Favorite Guitarists

I looked back 5 pages to see if there was any similar thread and didnt find one so here it is.
For all you guitar players out there (or even if you're not), list your favorite guitarists if you have any. It doesnt have to be in a particular order, I just want to see what kinds of guitarists Fakkers prefer. :D
For me, Id have to say
Paul Gilbert
Jeff Loomis
Jason Becker
Shawn Lane
Jeff Beck
Eric Johnson
Dimebag
Marty Friedman
Steve Vai
Alexi Laiho
John Petrucci
Buckethead
Joe Satriani
Paco De Lucia
Karl Sanders
Muhammed Suiçmez
Michael Romeo
..I might list some more later...
Now that I think about it, lets post some of our favorite tracks/solos from our favorite guitarists! Lets not turn this into a constant vid posting thread though, try to keep it down to a minimum and just show us some reasons why theyre youre favorite if you want. Ill edit this post later to add some more.
Ill start off with Jeff Loomis.... Miles of Machines, and Opulent Maelstrom. Both off of his album, Zero Order Phase.

Well, to be honest I think in terms of bands, so most of the time id be hard pressed to mention specific players.
That being said, I guess Thomas Youngblood might be one of them, since I love Kamelot.

Jimi Hendrix - the man could make sweet sweet sex with his guitar
Slash - love his bluesy style
Stevie Ray Vaughn - same reason, plus his awesome voice
Kirk Hammett - his playing is so evil it inspired mass rapes in Russia

2. Steve Vai
3. John Petrucci (Glasgow Kiss, what more can I say.)
4. I don't really know... Buckethead perhaps, even though I'm no real fan of his. Pretty much only the Albino Slug album that is any good imo.

Steve Vai
Buckethead
Dimebag
Yngwie Malmsteen
John Petrucci
Dave Mustaine

Wow. As a guitarist I have to say,,,This topic is...Epic! My favorite guitarists:
1. Angus Young (AC/DC)
His style is intense. Power chords mixed with bluesy licks are just the thing to turn a piece into something as powerful as AC/DC's music.
2. Kevin "Noodles" Wasserman (The Offspring)
Not for talent, but for sound. The offspring always have had interesting guitar pieces- In "Come out and Play" and "The kids aren't alright" in particular.
3. Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin)
Every time I hear that intro guitar in Black Dog I nearly cry. It is that damn good. However other pieces such as D'yer Maker and, of course, Stairway to heaven shouldn't be dismissed either.
4. Herman Li (Dragonforce)
People always put up the argument that "Dragonforce sucks live" or "All their songs sound the same." I don't give a fuck. If anything, only that argument sounds to same. To be able to perform at that level, even if just in the studio, surpasses the abilities of just about any guitarist I have listened to.
5. Joe Satriani
He taught Metallica's Kirk Hammet how to play! This guy is a beast. Pure and simple. As far as sheer talent goes, he is a force to be reckoned with.
Edit: Haha, looks like Kirk Hammet and Jimmy Page are pretty popular here. Fakku has better taste than I thought it would. Imagine how much murder and maiming would exist if there were enough users to have a garfest-type rock-off. Sadly from what I've seen the music section isn't all that used.

I'm starting to see a Metallica vs. Megadeth war in the near future...

lol. Itwouldnt be a war, just a quick battle. Mustaine, Friedman, Poland, and Broderick would blow Metallica out in a second. Of course this is in terms of technical skill and how cleanly they play.
Ooh... did I just say that out loud? :D

Of course this is in terms of technical skill and how cleanly they play.Tch. Skill only matters to such an extent. I mean- if it doesn't sound good why listen to it? For example: Johnny Ramone (The Ramones) and Tom Delonge (Blink 182, Boxcar Racer, Angels & Airwaves) both have simple styles of guitar playing...However, both of them have many fans.

Unfortunately, using this logic, the Jonas Brothers are the greatest guitarists in the world. >.> In the end, "sounding good" is just an opinion.

I was referring more to the speed and cleanliness of a lick. While Kirk's playing does indeed sound good sometimes, you cant really argue that its cleaner than say... something by Michael Angelo Batio.
I try to stay as objective as possible when it comes to this because when it comes down to who you like, you cant debate. Its just what you like.

I get your point, and I agree by the way, but I am just saying that I do not like a talented piece just because it is talented. I may respect the talent of the guitarist, but...It has to "sound" right to be truly great.
At any rate, some of my favorite pieces-
Spoiler:
Could you do that while throwing horns? (Angus Young's playing)...His presence on stage has got to be the best ever. I would post TTFATF, but I imagine everyone has already heard that 100,000 times. It is pretty good, but in my opinion Revolution Deathsquad is much better.
