I actually haven't read the manga before, but I have heard some good things about it from a few friends. They kept telling me to try it out. Since this is getting animated, I think I may take their reccomendation and have a look, as the story seems intriguing for me. Anyhow, I'll look forward to both the manga and the anime.

This is ok as a manga. But it won't make it as an anime. Seriously I don't see this getting a 2nd season or even more than 13 episodes. Won't be that popular either.
This kind of plot can be very well expressed and worked with in a manga. However when you bring it to the tv I just can't see it performing as well.
Anyways.

I have to disagree Zellgadus. There is nothing that should keep back Bakuman from being popular as long as the story is interesting and/or the characters are well recieved.

I just got done watching the first episode, and I thought that it was a faithful adaptation of the first chapter. I laughed at the double intro, and I think that both the opening and ending songs will grow on me. Animation wise, I thought that it was going to be a bit crisper, but maybe they are saving that up for the latter episodes, where things get a bit crazier.
Anyways, I thought that they did a solid job of the first chapter, and I'm eager to see more, especially the parts that I haven't read yet, (believe I left off somewhere in the very early teens-definitely gotta pick it back up).

I consider this series to be a gem among the other Fall releases after watching episode 1. I never read the manga but I've got a good feeling about this as an anime.

I totally planned to watch this, but there is so many anime worth watching this season that it sorta fell by the wayside.
Looks really interesting though - I'll probably pick it up this weekend.

I enjoyed reading the Bakuman manga, and I watched a few episodes of the anime...but it doesn't didn't work for me. I dunno...the pacing didn't make it feel as exciting as it did for me when I was reading it.

I read the preview of it in the May-July issues of Shonen Jump and I can honestly say I well enjoyed the premise of it and have high hopes it will be a successful series,I am deffinetly looking forward to seeing how the anime version plays out.

I'm sorry that I didn't pick this show up sooner. I've only seen the first 4 episodes, but so far it has been great. It isn't a comedy, but it has some really funny moments. The idea for the story and the reason the characters want to be mangaka is pretty interesting - the agreement between the protagonist and his love interest creates a unique relationship between the two. Episode 4 also had a great moment between them in class at the end. Anyone how likes slice of life anime or is interested in the world of creating manga should give this show a shot.
I've learned quite a bit about the manga creating process so far (if the show is accurate which it appears to be). I want to make a manga now...

I don't know why but I can't seem to pick this up. I heard it's good but I am afraid I might not like it. I might as well give it a shot but IDK. TT_TT maybe it's the fact the main guy is doing something I wish I could do.

This series is really inspiring. In a nutshell, it's about two guys trying to achieve their dreams. It's also realistic -- heck, I'm itching to draw a manga now. But I don't have the skills lolz.

It is realistic in its portrayal of the mangaka world (to a degree anyways).
