The final episode of the K-ON!! television anime series has announced that a film version of K-ON! has been green-lit.
The movie announcement is also on the official website. Voice actress Asami Sanada (Sawako Yamanaka) posted on her Twitter account that she did not know about the film and added that it was a surprise to her too.

I'm so excited about this. I'm hoping that it's either going to be the gang doing some kind of big tour or gig, or a time skip, showing the girls in college and them trying to get a club in school.
Even if neither of those scenarios happen, I'm still pumped. More Mio is definitely not a bad thing. :)

I'm kinda on the fence when it comes to k-on, but this is just getting ridiculous. That's not to say I hate the music though, in fact I like it very much.

I don't want any movie... K-On is overrated. Watch season 1: Was ok, good enough. Season 2: zomg rince and repeat. Now a movie?
Common seriously? How about making a new White Album series, based of the new game and the manga story. Now THAT would be awesome.

Agreed. That was their target when they first formed HTT, I was expecting to see it happen during the finale. Didn't happen, so the movie should have it.

Probably the same with the series, but with more twists since there's a new character.
either way, I'll have an orgasm if they decided to make a White Album OVa or some sort with the new character added.

I hope it is neither a big recap episode or them doing stupid/cute stuff like the second season overdid. K-on started out pretty cool on the first season, not to mention there was a lot more musical references. Second season was basically them procrastinating to practice and doing something cute/random/stupid and it was pretty much a bunch of copypasta.
