Story Summary:
"The Japanese government was rescued from the brink of financial collapse by the Sovereign Wealth Fund. For its citizens, however, life has not improved, and unemployment, crime, suicide, and despair are rampant. Kimimaro, raised by his maternal grandmother after the disappearance of his father and the death of his mother, is a scholarship student whose only dream is to avoid all this and live a stable life. One day, however, he meets a man who offers him a large sum of money if he'll agree to pay it back. From then on his fate is radically altered as he's drawn into a mysterious area known as "The Financial District." (MAL)
Studio: Tatsunoko Productions
Premiered: April 2011
Trailer:
Well, I just got done watching the first episode, and I found it to be very trippy, especially with the atmosphere and Masakaki's character. I'm not sure what to make of this series yet, but its off to a promising start.
What do you guys think/have you check it out yet/will you?

Curious and Wondering
The peculiar title drew me in. And what's this "Financial District"? Like fighting for some cash? Weird, but fascinatingly weird. Interesting to a T.
Awaiting next episode for more headbashing.

Episode 1 didn't leave much of an impression on me. I saw some moments where the characters designs were off-model, which is never a good sign considering it's the first episode. I'm going to hold off on watching more since I've already reached my anime quota for the season.

Watched episode one. It seems this one is the only serious anime other than Kaiji S2 for this season where it has plot twisted about money, demon and how human perceive money existence to them. Hope this one will be a good one considering the lack of this type of anime nowadays.

[font=Verdana][color=green]I didn't mind the first episode. It was slightly come and go, sometimes it jumped randomly, but it seemed to hold itself together pretty well. I just hope that this doesn't degenerate into a Battle a Week format; I was actually hoping that it focused a lot more on the economy side of things, but they'll likely be disregarded for Battles soon.

This series started out pretty... Trippy.
Liberal use of CGI effects and dream-in-dream scenes really add to the trippiness. The show seems pretty good overall. Oddly reminds me of Speed Grapher for some reason.

it seems like the clashing colorful spheres on the bldg is quantity of their powers (or their total amount of money?) Their "beam swords" are made up of money?

Well I'm hooked. The first episode was really interesting and had a lot of dark elements. I don't particularly see anything wrong with looking like Yugioh, in fact I like how this anime builds upon it with more mature themes. It does a very good job establishing itself in the senien genre and I'm looking forward to seeing how the plot develops.
I didn't even realize how close it is to Yugioh until you mentioned it. It reminded me more of Spice&Wolf except it'll be more action orientated in a modern/futuristic setting.

The word for today is "Mezzoflation", which comes from "Mezzo-" and "inflation"(i guess?)... I'm going to get used to this money talk!!

This second episode was even better than the first.
[spoil]
I really liked the first deal he had. The directors cut out the bullshit where the protagonist could suddenly fight with amazing powers and showed him being helpless as his asset got her ass handed to her for the first few minutes. Although I expected a loss, and a more able 'veteran' (the guy was pretty pathetic to lose in one attack), his win does bring more plot development to the table.

Lmao the money talk is really retarded if it's just going to be attack names based on economics and latin lingo. So far we had 'micro' which involves giant moving steel(?) balls and 'mezzoflation' which looked like flamethrower x15 with a fireblast.
So far there's been quite a lot of action and character development, but a lack of 'moneytalk'. I wish the next episodes will address this.

The plot seems promising The beginning scene with his crush in a relationship already got me hooked. The animation could be better, enjoyed how he got his ass handed to him by his asset, but I have to say it was episode 2 that got me hooked
"It's a small price to pay if it means I won't see your face again"
Buff
I hope the plot will overshadow the bad animation I expect a lot from the creator of mononoke

[spoil]I agree. I, too, thought that the second episode was definitely better than the first, and I got a much better feel for the setting of the series. Mashu's attack was also very cool to watch, and I'm wondering that as Yoga's money increases, her attack variety/intensity increases as well, and vice versa.
