[Anime] Muv-Luv: Total Eclipse

Synopsis:
Total Eclipse is a new Muv-Luv Alternative project which started on 21 December 2006 with the February 2007 issue of Tech Gian. Its main medium is short stories supplemented with photographs of dioramas mainly featuring senjutsuki action figures by Volks. Total Eclipse is set in the same world as Alternative, at Alaska’s Yukon base, test site 18, where first-class staff from all over the world regardless of country gather to work on new senjutsuki. The main characters are engineers and pilots. Total Eclipse is to feature many senjutsuki that failed to show up in Alternative.

very nice a hope we get a full muv luv anime

As much as I'd like that to happen, it's very unlikely. The costs of sponsoring at least three cours of anime is immense. Even worse when you consider that if you want it to live up to the namesake, the writers and animation will have to be top tier.

Fans looking forward to Muv Luv TE should check out the website. This is the first time I have ever seen an official anime website featuring both Japanese and English language!

That being said, the outfits of the female characters provide quite a bit of fanservice, albeit different from the norm. :)

Man, I can't remember the last time I was waiting for a show that much.

At very least, I have all the TSF Cross Operation Volumes, so I can keep myself entertained until July.

Speaking of Promo, the TSF's look fabulous, especially the Terminator. Character design looks...okay. Then again, it would be probably hard to do anything better than Miyata Sou's original artwork for TE.

So, for anyone knowing what is going on in Total Eclipse, is this going to rip out hearts like Alternative? I know it won't be as bad as MLA, but I still want to know.

Anyway, I have high hopes for this, though I don't think it'll have that much of a following, considering that only people familiar with Muv-Luv's plot will be able to completely understand this anime (that is, if they don't royally screw up during production and make a Infinite Stratos-lookalike just to appeal to more casual audiences).

Just finished the first episode, a slow start but I have hope

This was a pretty good episode, as far as introductions are concerned. It does establish the world of Muv Luv pretty well. It also shows the Lunar Campaign, which was only briefly mentioned in the VNs. I was kinda curious about how they fought BETA there.

My only complaint, is that there is nowhere near enough despair, given that by 1997 most of the human race was killed off in rather horrific ways...then again, Japan was nowhere near the front lines when invasion started.

Animation was much better than I suspected it would be. Gekishits and their Zukishits look awesome, for all the absolute nill they do against BETA. Same with the sparring match and the whole paintball fight. Finally some real mecha on mecha action.

Also, I'm not used to seeing Yui with short hair. This is news to me. But it's nice.



So far, I approve, keep going.

Looked interesting, so I checked out first episode. I kinda like the whole "Japan is still Imperial" deal. First episode was a bit typical of those "Teenage girls pilot giant robot" shows, but it still seems slightly interesting.

can't really appreciate it since i didn't get to play the thing. much like the others, my reason for watching is mecha, babes and suits. dem suits. DEM SUITS!!!

going back, ep 1 was so so since it's just the intro ep. gonna watch as to how it turns out
