[Anime] Aku No Hana

Am I the only one who thinks this anime is reasonably good?
Bad Rotoscoping aside, it stands out a lot from almost all anime in the last 1-2 years because of the realistic art style where not every character is perfect looking, and because of the gloomy atmosphere.
I'm gonna give this one a chance and am gonna continue watching the 2nd episode.

Zexcs, what's up with the drastic changes from the manga!? God, the design is as ugly as sin.
Then again, it felt... realistic. I can imagine this as a live action.

Heck, all those "animation" you see was recorded first as a "live action" before being Rotoscoped. It's just fucking redundant.

What exactly is a rotoscope animating anyway?

Basically, you take a "real live" recording, and then trace, color and animate it frame by frame.
Examples of GOOD Rotoscopy:
Bakshi's Lord of The Rings (the whole Ring wraiths)
Spoiler:
Sakamichi no Apollon (Sentaro at drums)
Spoiler:
--------
So, every fine detailed background was the result of Rotoscoping.

This was pretty interesting I love the art they went and they used my favorite type of animation and the story seems nice will be watching this till the end.

Well, at least the faces of other characters magically appear out of nothing instead of just leaving them faceless.

Whoa, it's rotoscope? No wonder it was such a smooth motion.
But then how come I felt that AnH is more like stiff frame-by-frame photo? Hahaha.

Because the numbers of frames used was under 30, that's why I said that it was a Bad and lazy Rotoscopy. It's not artsy, it's just bad and lazy.
heck someone even said it was 5Fps lol

the animation style is interesting but as many already pointed out done very badly, the characters lack basic shading let alone proper detail. The faces "pop in" as a character gets closer to the camera like graphics in some old video game and there are jumpy, rough animations as well. Hell even a default photoshop filter applied to every frame of the original filmed material would probably have done a better job then this.
My guess is that they just wanted people to notice the anime by using rotoscopy, but I guess that backfired pretty heavily since the character design differs so vastly from teh manga.
On a second note maybe people will start bying the manga now after noticing the anime and thinking the story is good but the artwork is shit. Maybe this was the plan all along who knows...

[size=14]ahhh and it had such promise as well. I wouldn't mind but this is probably some of the worst rotoscoping I've ever seen and those faces, my god I couldn't stop laughing, it's like they were trying to turn it into a gag anime. I guess it's the manga for me.[/h]

I need bleach in MY EYES. God....nooooo....nnnnooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Oh nnoooooooooooooooooooooooo, nooooooooooooooooooooooo,nonononono NO!
I'm not shocked. The director didn't want to do this, so he f'd it on purpose.

I have come to the conclusion that even if the art style was "normal", a lot of people would still have dropped it. Calling the pacing "molasses" could be considered an understatement.

The art really did catch me by surprise, but I can get used to it. I'll never understand why they decided to use that art style though. They might as well have just made it into a live action series. At least then there would be an excuse why the characters look so homely in comparison to the manga.
