[Anime] Eureka Seven: Astral Ocean: Continue or Drop?
Eureka Seven: Astral Ocean

I'm in quite the dilemma. I love Eureka Seven Psalms of Planets and Pocket Full of Rainbows, but I just finished watching episode 17 of Eureka Seven: Astral Ocean, and I am severely disappointed. Does anyone think this anime is worth watching anymore, or do you think that this is a really crappy run off from a great anime?[size=12][/h]

I'm sort of a mixed opinion here, because I remember how long it took for the original series to really get going. That said, I very much preferred the original series cast, and, unexpectedly, even the dubs were phenomenal. All in all though, I just wait until the end of friday each week, and then torrent that week's episode of Eureka Seven: AO. I figure that even if the episodes don't get any better, it's still less than 25 minutes per episode, and VLC media player can skip through any parts I don't want to watch.
On the other hand, I'm still annoyed that this is supposed to be a prequel to the original, not a sequel. WE NEED A SEQUEL, DAMMIT NOT MORE BACKSTORY!

*ahem*

Right, well, anywho... It's your choice whether you want to watch it or not. This is just my ¥1.56780 worth. (As of 9/1/12.)

Thanks godsend. I was really on the fence about this anime, and I really, really want it to pan out decently. I will continue to watch it, but god help me if they kill of Renton before he gets any screen time. Naru's also annoying as shit. +rep for the reply

I thought the original was fine and didn't require any spinoffs. I haven't watched the new stuff because the descriptions for them do not appeal to me. Seems to me they are trying to milk it for what its worth.

I watched a few episodes of AO, the cast was definitely not clicking with me at all this time around.

The cast could definitely have had some improvements -- namely, make them the same as the original, but, idk, 10 years older or something? (Yes, an actual sequel!)
But honestly, as sequels/prequels go, it isn't the worst. Even if it totally sucks in the end, at least they recognized the potential of the original enough to go for it a second time. I just hope they don't fuck it up.
Then I'd hate them.
oh, and off topic -- @Nachbar:
I pick the white needle -- MY needle.

And now to hear some of you confirm my suspicions makes it less likely I'll watch. Unless something drastic happens.

Like godsend said, the original anime took some time to get into motion, though Renton wasn't such a little bitch like Ao....or Naru.....stupid bitch

As of the subbing of episode 22 today, and having watched it...
DEFINITELY continue. Let's just say everyone's favorite character makes an appearance for the first time in a while.

Honestly I hate AO cause for one Eureka has real kids...WTF no Eureka was created after Sakuya and had no memories....she did not have 2 kids then get her memory erased....she was found by Adroc that was the start of her life she is NOT 12k years old. And most importantly that the Type-0 Nirvash can only be operated by Renton and Eureka because they are in love. This could have been a great show but they ruined it by ignoring everything in Eureka 7 and making a random story that does not and cant fit into the storyline for Eureka 7

I originally liked AO, then I started to hate how boring it was getting, without much in the way of plot development, but now I PRAY that it gets a second season. It's kinda like how the first half of Eureka Seven was basically one huge fact-finding mission and a buildup for the second half. (An extremely well done buildup, mind you.) The first season of AO seems to be a buildup so far. And the end of episode 22 is TOTALLY worth it.

can't say i hate it but somehow it gets to my nerve sometimes, mainly an antagonist with god hax. dunno.. seems like it's a mash up of specific cast stories in 1 season that throws viewers off more often than not.

I'm just going to say, it's a waste to drop it at 17.
Then there's episode 22...

To be honest, I've read quite a few reviews since I first posted this survey, and I've come to appreciate this anime a bit more. After watching episode 22, I do hope that what godsend stated will be fact, and not just rumor.

back to /a/ with you. Also, I'm liking Ao as of now. And dropping it at ep 17 is like licking the ass of a man with aids.
