[Anime]New Sailor Moon Anime (Summer 2013)

The idol group Momoiro Clover Z, publisher Kodansha, and creator Naoko Takeuchi announced on Friday that a new anime adaptation of Takeuchi's Sailor Moon manga is being produced. The new anime series is aimed for release next summer, and Momoiro Clover Z will perform a theme song.

Momoiro Clover Z made the announcement during a live event celebrating the 20th anniversary of the manga. Momoiro Clover Z sang the first Sailor Moon anime's theme song "Moonlight Densetsu" at the event via a live video feed from France, where they are guests of Japan Expo.

Update: More background information added. Although Kotono Mitsuishi and Tohru Furuya, the voices of Sailor Moon/Usagi Tsukino and Tuxedo Mask/Mamoru Chiba in the first Sailor Moon anime, were present at the live event, the event did not specify that they will reprise their roles in the new series. The event also did not specify which song Momoiro Clover Z will perform as a theme song of the new anime.

Awesome, looking forward to it. The original was one of the first anime that I watched, back when it was airing on Toonami. It was also one of my favorites as well.

The story of the original was allright, if not a bit meh.
I sure hope they will look better this time.

I'm amazingly excited! Sailor Moon was the first anime that I ever watched, and it totally changed my life - exposing me to the world of anime, and influencing me to learn to draw and otherwise be more creative. Without it's influence, I'm not quite sure what kind of person I would be today. I was looking forward to a revival, but the fact that they're making an entirely new series caught me completely off guard. I have high hopes, because they specifically state that the new anime will be closely following the manga... which was fantastic. I can't wait to see the crisp, clean, modern look they'll be giving to my favorite show! I don't think they'll half ass it, since it was such a huge part of everyone's childhoods... I'm sure it also had a big impact on those who will be handling the new show, and the fact that they can potentially draw in both old and new fans alike (and make tons of money doing so) will be a good incentive to put their best into this. I'm hopeful!

if it is closer to the manga i will be happy the first season was like 60 episodes that fit 3 volumes of manga that shows how much filer there was

A Sailor Moon anime based completely on the original manga? I'm sold. I'm jumping for joy right now! I love the original anime (one of the first anime I ever saw), but the manga is so much better. And now it's going to get animated? Yea!!!

When it first came out, I thought "meh, girly show. DBZ is way cooler" Then I got sick one day and there was nothing on but a marathon of Sailor Moon, and I got pretty into it. Then the series ended on Original Toonami... I should try to keep track of this I suppose.

I remember watching Sailor Moon on the USA channel at 6 in the morning. It was one of the shows the got me into anime. I skipped a couple arcs in the anime and never finished the series. Since I hear good things about the manga, it'll be nice to watch the new series that is based on it. However, I'm jumping ship if it gets too cheesy.
