I just finished rewatching Seed/Destiny, and while it reaffirms my belief that Shinn is a bitch, it got me wondering. How the hell do they pilot Gundams with that kind of control set up? I know they have 2 peddles for the feet, and some kind of control for each of the hands. But even with advance programming help and Co-Ordinator/seed abilities, they way the pilots move the Gundams is fucking space magic.

This question is also for any of the Gundam Series, not just Seed/Destiny.

Probably one of those things even the creators of the series couldn't give you an answer for, ostensibly, all they use are glorified joysticks (dunno what you call them) for their arms, so how they are able to articulate their fingers is questionable

also, I had no idea there was a gundam thread here (and I am an idiot for assuming their wouldn't be), my opinion of this site shoots up drastically.

I have officially contributed to this website.
I'll take my moderator status now, preferably Figures/Mecha/Toys.

I saw Gundam AGE after exams and I thought the series was ok from episode 12 until Kio got the FX Gundam. Mostly because angry Flit was cool to watch, and also we finally have a Gundam pilot who is also the authority figure in the series. But Kio and the FX... it's like taking away all the parts of Kira that make him a good character and leaving him as a hollow shell of "Thou shall not kill". Even Destiny Kira still kills people in self defense and to protect others.

At most, the 2nd generation was the best of the entire series. But even so, AGE wasn't even that good. One thing I do respect and give credit about this series is the flow of the super cheesy plot(except for 3rd generation, after that, everything about the show was just LET'S END THIS NOW!!!). There's transitions from each generation and logic time-skips in terms of technology, and character self-issues.

I think we can all agree that AGE-FX phase was definitely the worst part of the series overall. Everything about it was very off, rushed, and idealistic, thus making it not exactly fit for the Gundam universe where war is tragic, take lives, and twisted.

For the SEED mechs, they had about 4 pedals that can go up and down, back and forth to accommodate for speed and orientation. Each joystick had about 6 buttons on it for various functions.

Most of the movements are suppose to be programmed into the mobile suit before hand which was why federation mobile suits were so crappy before Kira revamped the entire OS. Also the Gundam type MS had very advanced targeting and lock-on systems which was why Kira could beam spam the entire military.

Take a look at this for example. This is how they would probably work.

While I do agree with what your saying, on how some of the movements especially on the basic pilots suits, is controlled by programming. Kira's "Im Firing my LAZERZ!" attack, to me looked like it was controlled by the system. It looked on for him and The Freedom Always did the same pose. (That and they copied and pasted a lot of the fighting sequences). Assuming that the pedals control the thrusters, and system controls the movement when using the guns, how do the pilots use about 12 buttons on those 2 joysticks for advance movement and close quarters combat with whatever weapon they had? Most suits didn't really use their legs for combat besides the kick, but look at Athruns Justice. It has a beam thing on each of his legs which he can control to take out the opponent.

I agree with you on this. Many anime do have stuff that you can't explain, if not with "anime physics" - that is, the unspoken rules of the anime itself. If a mobile suit needed a specific button or lever or pedal to move every one of its joints, the cockpit alone would not be enough to keep them all, to say nothing of the fact that mobile suit pilots can communicate with each other just by making their machines touch (maybe they have some communication device that works that way, but it's still bare metal touching bare metal).

It's like how the speed of light gimmick works in Saint seiya: they can throw shots at that speed, yet they can freely talk between one hit and the other, or even before the shot hits, and we (the audience) can clearly see the shape of the shot even though it's supposed to be so fast that it would reach outer space in a matter of milliseconds.

does anyone have a chance to read and following the new Mobile Fighter G Gundam Manga that's still ongoing right now?
it's created by Kazuhiko Shimamoto(the mangaka that created Comic Bomber and the Animate's Tencho).

Forum Image: http://i47.tinypic.com/j6ncqc.jpg

it's basically a retelling from the anime series but besides the rough edged art style,it has some new things and twists that weren't added in the anime series but stays the same with the main story from it.

the new manga story reached at where Domon just got his God Gundam and headed to Neo Hongkong but at the end of the chapter,it shows the silhouettes of four New Gundams that's either replacing Maxter,Rose,Bolt and Dragon Gundam or it's an upgrades to fit the new twists.

The Gundam pilots and custom unit pilots are suppose to program their own movements with the help of the tech crew. It's very possible that Athrun has a button somewhere in the cockpit that activates the spinzaku kick or some other stock motion. Also The reason why Strike Freedom's full burst mode always pulls the same pose and hits everything is that Freedom, Justice and their Destiny counter parts have the best targeting systems in the Gundam multiverse. It basically autolocks onto enemy MS and automatically shoots them. So basically the Gundam units have aimbot hacks.

I laughed at that part.

But to creator of the thread. I can agree and disagree with some points.

I agree 1 zaku for Seed Destiny. Shinn is a bitch and i wished he would slit his veins in the middle of the Seed Destiny.

But For Seed. id give 3. 4 is too good for it and 2 is too bad for it. When watching it i wanted to smash Kiras face into a monitor and seed factor itself was confusing. Testtube babies...
Atleast Andrew Waltfeld was there for a funny scene, which was ruined by ASSHOLES with guns...

But as far as G Gundam goes, i havent been dissapointed.

To be honest, I'm more interested in 08th MS Team in Bluray quality.

That said, I would like to get SEED in HD, but since no one is subbing it... D:

Really? That's good. Though an art remake would be the best.
I mean, why sailor moon got a remake but no for Gundam? That's discrimination.

then change to perfect gundam vs perfect zeong?
if possible, eventually Hi-nu gundam vs Nightingale? Sold.

I wonder if Gundam franchise will do the same thing as Macross with their anniversary, Macross 30th anniversary ps3 game with all the characters in their remastered versions appeared in a storyline (although it would something the same as the DW gundam series).

Spoiler:
I want a remastered BRIGHT SLAP
