Do You Think Anime Will Eventually Cease to Exist?

So, do you think Anime will slowly start to lose popularity and cease to exist? I think its bound to happen someday, but hopefully not in my lifetime. Anime brings in money which is obviously good for Japan's economy, but if it becomes less popular it will stop being made (supply and demand). So, sadly, it is a possibility and in all likelihood it will happen. But, if we keep it alive, pass it on the our little children, it might just live. :)
But when? Will it actually cease? And why?

No. Anime encompasses a wide range of genres, so even if one genre starts to lose its popularity it will still survive. The worst i could see happening is the art style losing its popularity, but i don't think that would be permanent. In all forms of arts genres ebb in and out of popularity. Puzzle games for example we big back in the day, but they started to lose popularity. But even with that there are still people making and playing those types of games.

It will, like everything, eventually cease to exist. However, it will likely be around as long as humans are prosperous.

I don't think it will. Anime is too prevalent in some societies and i can't imagine it completely disappearing. It may however just go off the radar for awhile then come back however.

anime = animation
It is impossible to get rid of animation, because anything that isn't live action=animated.

All things come and go.
To quote a very good book called The Wheel of Time:
"Nothing new ever happens in this world. When something is born, it is told of around the world. As time passes, legends come from its tales. Stories turn to legends. legends fade to myths. And when the time comes for this thing to awaken again, the world has forgotten of its existence for a long, long time."
Eventually, if a few hundred years, somewhere in the 2300's. I'm saying this because today, conserving information is easy, not like in the old days, so it will last a bunch of time. But like all things, it will be gone one day, until the day it comes back.

I cant say for sure cause everything is not certain but I want to believe that it wont. Just like how the Japanese preserved the comic/manga industry, because you can notice that the comic industry has lost it's popularity in some countries.

I don't think it will die that soon..unless Japan suddenly stops making them, but I think the style used in making an anime which is hand-drawing will eventually be scrapped and will shift to full 3D animation in the future.

Mod Note: Topic has been moved from Serious Discussion to the Anime General section.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Getting back on topic, there is always a possibility for anything to happen, but personally, I wouldn't wish for anime to disappear nor cease to exist. Then again, the genre of anime and manga may develop further, perhaps based on technology, evolving into another format.

I don't see a reason as to why it must end anytime soon. The anime industry is gaining popularity outside Japan. More people are taking interest and you see more manga and anime every year.
I'm pretty sure it's safe to say anime won't be dying on us anytime soon.

I doubt it will. Like Black Jesus said, the art may change but it will never die. Btw, the art style has changed a lot from some 30 years ago and if you see it back to those classics like DBZ, Doraemon, Akira, Gundam etc etc. You can see that their art is very different from the ones we are used to see today. Anime will, like all forms of entertainment and art, evolve and change with the times. As an old fag of anime, I have seen from the mid bloom of anime (Somewhere around DBZ and Doraemon), but not the start and I have find that anime's art and storytelling have changed a lot. If some Vets are around to talk about the classics, I think they will say the same.

Maybe someday it will be so realistic it won't be considered an animation? ><
Nahh, thats impossible. What makes anime anime is that its beatiful 2d drawings drawn to life. But 3d? Its a possibility. :3

Anything is possible, but I think that anime has a good chance to keep on going for a long time. It might change along the way, but here hoping that it stays in any form. There may be highs and lows over the coming years, but that's all I expect to happen.

Anime will cease to exist if all animators stop production of anime and everyone loses the ability to create or replicate it, and all anime is erased from any and all existing data storage.
If this were to happen then anime will soon just be a story that will be passed through generations and will eventually become lost.
I don't see that happening anytime soon.
