[General] Favorite anime or manga and why?

Whats your favorite anime and/or manga and why is it?

My favorite manga is Berserk because it's the most GAR stuff ever and simply kicks all kinds of ass.

Favorite anime is One Piece, I love the characters, the story and all the emotions in it.

Because it's a fukken masterpiece. Music, time, archetypal mystery, intrigues and romance mixed together to form a great anime series. Also, Mishima alone is a great reason to watch it.

Berserk:
It's probably the most gar manga out there. Gatz kicks ass as well. >_>

Anime: Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (2009). Just by looking at episode 8 (Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody), it's enough to say that with 28 episodes, it will definitely include the Disappearance, and become my favourite anime.

Manga: Fullmetal Alchemist. Really, no competition here. Everything's perfect.

Light Novel: Suzumiya Haruhi Series. It's the best thing ever written by mankind.

"Samurai Champloo" is, and most likely always will be, my favorite anime. The soundtrack, main plot, sub-plots, and characters each contribute to it being my favorite. Like with the anime "Fooly Cooly", Samurai Champloo has a soundtrack that pulls one even deeper into the series than they already were. The stories, main & sub, are pretty detailed and the characters involved in them make the story even more interesting/deep. Finally, the characters have well-made personalities. I could relate to em.

I don't really know that I could just one, so I'll go with my top three. XD

Clannad series, Honey and Clover series, and Shuffle!

NGE

-Cus it was a freakin masterpiece. It made me think about things I never thought of b4 and it was realy deep. It tottaly brok the rule of happily ever after and showed the darker side of humanity by showing how problems stack up until they finaly collapse. For any of u that haven't seen Neon Genesis Evangelion please do it is awsome.

Cowboy Bebop

-because it's the most phenomenal anime of all time great characters great story well built and put together. There’s just no comparing to the lagging stories that most animes have today.

NGE DID end with a happily ever after. But if you're going by the movie and you call yourself a real fan, then you failed... Also, the only problem in the whole show was the main character lacking balls.

One of the reason's why I say I don't like NGE is because the fans who watch and say they like it don't understand it themselves...

Ok that's your view but in my eyes both the seriess ending and the movie endings are sad endings bcause in one it's d end of d world and in d other Shinji accepted intrumentality and all of humanity has become one omnipotent being lacking any sense of "who" it is. Also as for Shinji not havin balls that made the anime all the ore beliveable it made u think alright this kids not d perfect hero or a hero at all like in other animes, and in truth we aren't all heroes so Shinji being a pussy just made it all d more believeable. Also please don't say I don't understand the series because I spent a great deal of time studying it and wathed it over a 100 times

It brought about the end of human conflict. How's that a sad ending...? It really wasn't the end of the world, it was the next step in human evolution bringing the conscious together which meant everyone understood each other.

In a way, Shinji being such a coward made it less believable because I have never seen anyone even trying, to be more of a faggot than Shinji. Also, watching it over a hundred times might be the problem since you didn't have time to watch other great series. :P

But I do respect other's opinions, I just think when something is over hyped such as this, even opinions can't justify it.

That's good that you respect others opinions, that's rare nowadays (some ppl would start a flame war over this nice to see someone above that). Also yeah it put an end to human conflict but at what cost? If this wer to happen "you" as u know it would be destroyed, all forms of "special" or individualiy would be gone. Also I don't want a future (or peace for that matter) that is forced onto me by someone, SELE did everything they did for the wrong reasons. Also I guess u don't know ppl that wer screwed over as kids Shinji had very good reasons for being so much of a faggot. Anyway let's agree to disagree

I'm not a fan of anime/manga, so I don't know too many of them, and my likes will probably make you groan. Because they're probably very typical for non-anime-aficionados.

Manga:
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, Someday's Dreamers. I also found Emma tolerable.

YKK is delightfully drama-free for the most part, and devoid of annoying anime/manga stereotypes, until the last part, which I foreseeably hated.
Someday's Dreamers is kinda cute and the art is nice, and I liked some of its basic proposals, although it hit itself in the face with the artificial drama.
Emma was overwhelming art-wise, didn't care much for the story or the characters.

Anime:
Mushi-shi, Natsume Yuujinchou, Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou.

Mushi-shi has lots of funny ideas for the mushi, and the art's not that shabby. Some episodes made me roll my eyes, and as the series went on the bullshit increased. I never finished it, but in the beginning it was well nice.
(Zoku) Natsume Yuujinchou is about youkai, which I personally found intriguing, and it doesn't make too bad a job of it. Some characters are alright (Hiiragi), and except for the fujoshi-bait drama-episodes it was surprisingly okay. The art was acceptable, too.

I want to get into this conversation too lol, NGE was a great series but I didn't quite understand it after watching the show so then I watched the movie which kind of confused me even more, but good thing there was commentary lol. And the main character sucked he always complained or some shit, he was just a big pussy. More so in the movie where he fucking came by an unconscience Asuka lol that was so damn fucking hilarious, he even said "I'm so fucked up" and where he kept going into the fetal position. Also the part where Asuka got fucked up in the battle against the evas man that was gross, it was also sad when Misato died. With all the different things happening I didn't know that the movie and series was so religious and other things. I also remembered that doujin series Re-Take, which in my opinion is alot better than what happened in NGE. Shinji ain't that much of a bitch anymore and he finds love with Asuka, it has some h-scenes though I would of preferred there to be more but oh well it was still good. It's ending was even better because it was a happy ending for once where Shinji and Asuka were married and had a kid.

Anyways for anime I don't really have a favorite, but I'd have to say the Gintama was one that I really liked. It's really funny and when they go serious from time to time it's epic, Gintoki is my favorite character hell where do you think I got my name lol. And as for manga I'd have to go with Naruto, not much to explain it's just really good storywise and artwork. Naruto is such a fucking badass now Sasuke ain't got shit on him no matter how strong and evil he gets.

Oh I feel so lame I looked at NGE and was like what? Sounds lame to me and then all this conversation about it made me type it into Google and I found out it stood for Neon Genesis Evangelion and then I had to shoot myself for even thinking it was lame because Evangelion is one of the best animes I have seen. I'll still stand by CB but Neon is phenomenal. I could have avoided all of this by just reading the whole post I’m a loser. (sad face) But but I was in a rush.

Both had good points on sad or happy endings. Hmmmm?

>_< Hard choice but out of the 200+ series I've watched so far i must say i enjoyed Clannad/After Story the most... Has for manga even tho its still ongoing, >.> more like on stand-by it would have to be Yotsuba&, lol that series got the word "Lol" imprinted in every page.
