Nyan Koi!

What do schoolgirls and cats have in common? Actually, nothing much, apart from the fact that they are going to be the key themes of an upcoming anime in Autumn 2009, entitled "Nyan Koi".

Junpei Kosaka happens to be in an unfortunate situation, where he is allergic to cats, but at the very same time, his highschool crush, Kaede Mizuno, adores them. To make things worse, Junpei offends the local cat deity, giving him the ability (or curse?) to understand the language of cats, so that he can help grant 100 of their wishes. If he fails to do so, he will turn into a cat himself. How will Junpei salvage the situation? Will he be able to win the heart of Kaede Mizuno?

Looking at the official anime website, there are supposedly 2 female protagonists, which increases the likelihood of a love triangle developing. As always, schoolgirls are my priority, though the cute and interesting cats should add lots of fun to Nyan Koi!

P.S. Nyan Koi reminds me of Chii's Sweet Home and the novel "Kafka on the Shore" to a certain extent.

Well story is something I'd watch, so add another future anime I'll be watching, thou I can't find any info on who's in it VA wise, but I am sure who ever they are it'll still be well worth watching, thx for the heads up Gambler ^_^

One of my October targets. I love cats as well, so thanks for the tip Gambler.

Despite stealing one of my rackets, I have the utmost admiration for Gambler.

I've always had faith in AIC's works and so do I in this new anime adaptation of theirs. Now, while cats in real life can be too much of a bother (just as much as dogs are), I'm still quite fond of them in a sense, most esp in anime where they're just so adorably cute. I still like cats in general as much as I like the rainy days and going out on such occasions.

Man this week surely is overflowing with perfect new series (at least from what the first episodes give).
This first ep was just another dose of some nice lulz moments (cat radar) and, judging from the ending, some sort of harem.

I'm just hoping not all of these show keep their standards, or else I'm not gonna make it through this semester.

Well, ep 1 was great fun. Had no idea what it was when I tuned in on it over at animeseason.com, never heard of it before. I have to admit, I first thought it was going to be one of those series packed with way too many attempts at humour that it eventually fails but I was proven wrong; it was very good - although a bit stereotypical(but what is not stereotypical these days really?), but still enjoyable.

I'm just looking forward to seeing the unknown, very hot female friend of Kousaka apparently named Kanako Sumiyoshi(according to myanimelist.com). Will absolutely follow this series.

Well, this was definitely my favorite first episode of the fall season thus far. The comedy is spot on, and I can tell that the cats jokes will just keep on getting better and better. The characters felt fresh, and Kousaka was a relatable protagonist. I can't wait to see how the other characters, , are going to play into the story.

Overall impression: Nyah!

^ Yep, deja vu, I also felt an air of Seto no Hanayome in its comedic spots. I just watched the first ep a few minutes ago and it was great - not too overblown, not too watered-down, just right. Although Kousaka emotes almost as much as Araragi (from Bakemonogatari) in certain disadvantageous situations, I enjoyed the cats' actions as well ^_^ Meow.

But I also felt a bit of Jigoku Shoujo with the hundred-candles illustration. Cursed with 99 more to go...

Lead male Jumpei is cat hater but his love interest like cats! Wonder how Jumpei handle that?Add with his curse to grant 100 cats wishes if he fail he will turned into cat...poor guy. And HE HAS CAT RADAR!!! I laugh the part when Tama and Nyamsasu entering his "safety zone"LOL! I love the cats and Mizuno is really cute ^_^

I will watching the rest of the episode, hope the story gets better as it progress

It's probably the love of manliness coming from a female and the priest's random Yakuza outfit because I felt the same way. Judging from the end of the ED the characters can be classified as such (from left to right):
Genki girl
tsundere
mischievous girl
(main character)
childhood friend and tomboy
womanizer or supplier of shounen-ai content (just like Haruhi's Itsuki)

Argh, Junpei is a fucking idiot. I mean, he still haven't realized that Sumiyoshi is pure win. He should skip Mizuno and target Sumiyoshi instead, imo. (Mwuhaha, I just now claimed her as a waifu in the waifu thread =3)

Humm.. well, episode two wasn't a let-down - on the contrary; it's getting more and more into the story and the humour escalates. Very enticing continuation overall. Really found some scenes in this ep that were hilarious - and, the best thing with the episode imo, as you might guess, is that Sumiyoshi got introduced! Yay!



Indeed. Couldn't have said it better myself this time. It really has that Seto no Hanayome quality over it, and I really loved that anime. Might relate to the fact that they have some of the same humour, that same feeling and of course, those hilariously drawn facial expressions.

Another thing I noticed was that I actually spent that 1.5 minutes each listening to the OP and ED, subconsciously not fast-forwarding - a most peculiar thing considering I only do that with OP/ED's I like. They're somehow very uplifting songs combined with cute pictures. I like it.
