Yeah, at least you still get anime on TV and not at ungodly hours, and they are doing the first simultaneous international release of an anime (i.e. Kurokami), so I doubt the US has to worry about that right now.
In any case, I'd rather get them from subbing groups, since:
1. Not dubbed
2. Not edited (bar censoring)
3. You can choose where to get it from,
4. when to watch it,
5. and how to watch it (I love replaying some bits every once in a while)
Watching it on TV is good, since it's something to watch anyway, and it is a good way to see if you do like an anime if you can't be bothered downloading it or it's not available for download on the internet (heaven forbid). Owning the real thing is better than anything else though...
