Plot:
The story is set in the future on a land that, after being scarred by long-lasting wars, has settled into quiet decline. Model and actress Juri Aikawa will play Kanata Kumika, a 15-year-old girl who fulfills her dream of enlisting in the army and joins a unit of five girls who protect a fortress. The girls also play music that reverberate across the skies over towns without people and seas without fish.

Curious and Wondering
Another one of my 2010 watchlist items ^_^
I don't know if this is a liking of mine, but I tend to watch anime with military or war themes. Like Sky Girls.
In this case, I need this one. My watchlist is loaded with lots of the usual stuff, and I partly need variety ^_^
EDIT: Oh, this one's early - January 4. Good.

I don't know about anyone else, but the first episode was so intriguing that I have decided that this will definitely be one of my favorite animes this year.
I look forward to this series with high expectations.

Synopsis sounds like a Strike Witches spinoff and one of the chicks looks like Yui from K-On!.
Downloading it now, might be interesting.

Being the first title to ever introduce the Anime no Chikara brand, I would say "it is watchable" -- though I've yet to determine if I should actually watch it.
Tomatsu Haruka singing the ED did remind me of K-ON! "Kannagi".

It kind of looks like they based the characters off of K-ON >.>
That's what they look like to me. Older futuristic version of them.

Perhaps this oughta convince others. (not that my opinion is the same)

The resemblance is uncanny, and I dub this series as K-ON! military vers. I'll still watch this series though.

Curious and Wondering
@g-money: I think slightly so, but I more think of "Oh look, almost similar in drawing as K-On". Same illustrating team perhaps? ^_^
I already felt long ago last December that most people will think of it as "K-On going to war"or "K-On X Strike Witches" ^_^ Resemblance is really uncanny, but it is as what it is - take it.
Back to topic:
First episode - didn't disappoint. I thought it would be a somewhat more somber in having it in a military-type setting - I was a bit wrong there, in the sense of seeing it having more of a toned-down setting... or at least until a war shows up or something.
Kanata is a bright character in this series - hopefully a short side story gets inserted on how did she get in the military in the first place, seeing that she's an orphan of a war.
It was cute with Kanata blowing her trumpet at the morning tower ^_^
But I'm definitely sticking with this series. I'll chalk this one to "only looks like, but different"... retaining the K-On mindset will only serve no good and can lessen the joy of watching this series.

OK. Finally watched the first episode and ... "It's just like K-On!" Hahahahaha-NO! Not surprisingly, people are idiots and are quick to forget the existence of a previous work of the studio called Kannagi. So, not surprisingly, there's a lot of style similarities between this and Kannagi. Additionally, Sora no (W/)oto gave off quite a bit of Miyazaki vibes this episode, so that's definitely a good thing.

Yea, the character design are the same, but it doesn't mean the plot's the same. (Hopefully, or else the name "K-ON Military vers" will stick.)

I almost didn't watch it after seeing the Sankaku article about the K-ONification as compared to the original art. Went from beautifully shaded and detailed artwork to plain color fills and simple character designs. The background art is nice and all however, and the CoalGG encode with some ffdshow filters looked surprisingly good for a TV Tokyo HDTV rip.
Under normal circumstances I wouldn't watch the show, but I was entertained enough to give it another shot.

I wasn't really thrilled with it, it's a little too... something for me. Sometimes I can't take the happy go lucky type of characters where they're constantly smiling.
I'm not a fan of the naive clueless happy girls.
I'm a little disappointed though that she's playing an instrument. I could have ignored the fact she looked like she was from K-ON! but to be playing instruments too? *sigh*

Detailed character designs like Kishida Mel's are always simplified for the sake of not driving the animators nuts.

Honestly, in this particular situation, I feel like they were only trying to appeal to the moe-fanbase. Normally, I wouldn't really mind it because the industry isn't exactly making the most money and most studios just don't have the budget, but seeing as how A-1 is a 100% subsidiary of SONY (budget = ∞), I can't help but feel that they were just being greedy.
Still watching, though.
Edit: Oh, and it can also be true that A-1 simply doesn't have the animating power.
