I would like to know just how many soldiers he managed to kill before getting wiped out.
Also, anyone know if/when a 3rd season will start?

Wow last episode is nice, but Satio did not take out 7 million army, the anime did not explain a lot of thing, example like why Satio want to be the bait or how did Satio never die. The anime say he is revive by fairy, but how he douge all the arrow coming toward him.

Ok, here's what I think happened.
Saito did not dodge the arrows/magic. He got hit and died.
The forest was the same forest that other guy was in. So, it's like where people end up when they die and can be revived by the elves. Maybe sorta like a limbo or something? So he's revived there and then he's popped back into the "real" world.
I'd also like to know the reason why the army did not invade. They said it was because of Saito, but he failed to kill them all. Maybe that one witch betrayed the army and wiped them out, I don't know.
2008 is like in 3-4 months, not that long of a wait. We'll be occupied with the next releases of the new anime, lol.

I was under the impression that he was just blocking arrows with sword really fast. I would assume he died from the magic and the fairy/elf chick transported to the forest where she revived him and nursed him back to health before sending him on his way.
As for the army, I guess he must have done enough damage to buy everyone time to evacuate and regroup. I guess he killed enough to significantly weaken the enemies army and damage their morale, although in the episode it looked like he only killed a few hundred or a couple thousand at most.

somebody has to slow down the enemy

Maybe that one witch betrayed the army and wiped them out, I don't know.Tristain has an ally, so the 7-million-men army of Albion won't be invading anybody. All they could do is retake territory at that time and their original objective was to kill Henrietta anyway.
And assuming that the 7 million soldiers were all of Albion's military power, they shouldn't be moving them away from their capital and from their stations for too long.
...
The story went around in a loop...
...same way the first season ended
but this ending is a little incomplete and fuck, no kissing scene? infidelity!! dammit Saito! kono baka inu!![/h]

there's probably more to the mysterious elf girl too
perhaps people who are about to die but have a strong will to live are saved by the elf girl[/h]

I thought it was just the magic when he was laying down. I guess I forgot about a 2nd volley of arrows.

he was most likely teleported out before the mass attack of flame and arrows hit him... right around the time he finished screaming "Louise!!"
0
That's probably more likely, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was indeed hit and killed by the attack and the chick just brought him back somehow.
Overall I was really surprised by this show. It isn't amazing or anything, but I really didn't expect much and it turned out to be quite enjoyable.

The flower thingy died. So he either died or the forest he woke up in is on another plane of existence.

Good point. I forgot about the flower, which was my original reason for thinking he did indeed die and get brought back.

it won't be so surprising that elves can do void magic

Mmmm did anyone else notice the elf calling Saito the "Left hand of god"??
Would be one the reasons why she got him back to life... :?

nope, Saito wasn't the only one who was saved by the elf girl
the elves' world is most likely magically protected and set to exist somewhere inaccessible by ordinary means
and perhaps only those people who are kind-hearted, loved and has a strong will to live are saved
