I would not rule out that possibility, but it might not be what you're expecting.
I'm not entirely sure what to make of this episode, or Sugata's decision, but I have my theory.
Spoiler:
Eccentric certainly fits Sugata's appearance at the end there.

Sugata is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo FABULOUS, its 9000 times more fabulous than Takuto -_- He's basically like Juda now, except he doesn't refer to himself as queen.

Well I think these next two episodes will wrap everything up nicely. In a way I would like to see more star driver but it's just as good for not being too long if you know what I mean.

in the end there wasn't a conclusion on how the characters end up and it was all up to the imagination of the watchers... i bet it was a homo-ending ending in space...
I though they will pull off a Lets-combine-all-the-mecha thing since they'll make a rainbow haha

Okay, that was pretty damn cool. Although I wouldn't mind a wrap-up OVA or something. I'd like to see
But yeah, that was pretty cool. I liked their use of music, although I feel saddened that the awesomeness of Gravity Theta wasn't used.
Was a pretty fine ending, all in all.

After rewatching all twenty-five episodes in one sitting, I can conclude one thing aside from my pelvis hurting like hell, and that is Star Driver being a work of genius.
Since the first episode where we are introduced to Tsunashi Takuto as the "Galactic Pretty Boy", complete with his †˜fabulous’ transformation scene, Star Driver instantly knocked out almost all chances of itself being taken seriously by its viewers, including myself. For the majority of the remaining 24 episodes, it even followed a Mahou Shoujo-esque approach of †˜villain of the week’, which has been a prevalent factor in the downfall of this genre.
However, all of this is merely a façade for what this show truly is.
Even for the most observant viewers, Star Driver fully abuses its seemingly ridiculous setup into tricking you think it’s a random show in which the scriptwriter is not making any attention at all, but that isn’t true. Each episode had piece of plot and explanation that can only be understood once you've seen the final episode. The whole thing is not 'random' or 'stupid' at all. Everything makes sense. In fact, with the knowledge of the final episode under your belt, rewatching the series will make it seem almost new since there were so many details you couldn't catch before in each episode.
While I'm sure no one here will bother rewatching this show, I can say with confidence that Star Driver is definitely expertly-written while clevering disguising itself as something senseless. It's the exact opposite of Fractale, which is something senseless pretending it's clever. Sadly, most people will just remember Star Driver as a trainwreck with the only redeeming merit being a TTGL-esque final episode. It cannot be helped, since this anime really needs to be rewatched in order to catch its true value, and not many people would want to spend 9 hours doing that.
With that, I'm going to sadly say goodbye to Star Driver and award it a 7/10, the highest rating I have given out in the Winter 2011 season, making it my favourite show this cour, followed by Level-E.

It's the exact opposite of FractaleI agree with that, except in reverse. That Star Driver is where the shallow is, while Fractale had the deeper (but not-so-well directed) meaning behind it.
As for the final episode,

Honestly, I'd like to know how Takuto and Sugata get down.In addition to what ZeroOBK said, it should be noted that in the Fifth Phase, Cybodies can be regenerated by libido alone. I think there's more than enough libido in Takuto to regenerate one Cybody (considering he just single handedly beaten a Cybody that absorbed the almost entire World's libido).

I posted in the Fractale thread before regarding my thoughts. I don't really believe Fractale had any deep meaning subconsciously weaved into the plot. It tries to be something really deep, but really, it just isn't. The only thing good about Fractale is the original concept. It had the potential to become something deep and profound, but it never happened. There were too many plot holes and things that don't add up.
