It's not KyoAni's fault though. People should start to realize that. Why isn't it their fault?

Because Kadokawa has at least some control over what happens with Haruhi. Whether they were the ones that thought up E8 or not remains to be seen.

I read that if a Haruhi movie is made, they would just expand upon EE and make ANOTHER one, movie-length. I think many Haruhiists would repent if this happened.Oh god, i could not stand a movie length version of EE, why would they? why cant they just come up with something original. If they cant come up with any episode ideas, then do some sort of tournament till they do, id rathed see a cheap tournament story than that.

So? They didn't need to do it. They didn't need to adapt it the way they did. All they really, really had any use for was episodes 2, 3, and 9. 4-8 were an utter waste of time and deprived the series of all the momentum and excitement it should have had as a second Season of Haruhi.
I was super-excited about the second season when I heard about it. Now? Meh. I might keep watching. I might not. Endless Eight was a sudden brake to the consistent acceleration that was my excitement for this season. I was doing 80 or 90 metaphorical MPH. Now I'm at about 15.
Reeeeeeaaaaaaly bad move by KyoAni.

The Mikuru beam is pretty good, yes. From what I've heard of this arc from the manga, shit is about to get really interesting.

I have to watch it... because it's Haruhi. The first one was good and pretty interesting but seriously... it's like watching the same. Not that I have a problem with that (since i have nothing to do) but do they have to ride so heavily on the success of the previous one? They just used every cliche thing possible. It's Haruhi so people will definitely watch anyways. At least Kyo-Ani has high production values and the music is decent.

I'm surprised no one's talking about the new episode considering how different it is from every other one.

Yeah... certainly interesting. But then, the episode resolved it fairly quickly.
Does anyone else feel like the episodes are ending and starting in odd places? It seems like KyoAni just made like 2 or 3 hours of an arc all together, and then chopped it up at appropriate time intervals. Like, the episode ending completely anti-climactically in the middle of a conversation. It's throwing me off; the second big thing KyoAni is doing with this second season that is starting to piss me off.

I just discovered Haruhi by reading the LN (Melancholy). I want to see more of this series but I'm wondering whether to watch the anime and movie first then read the LN's or read the LN's first and watch the anime and movie.
I thought the Melancholy LN was great but I'm concerned with whether Kyon's thoughts get lost in the anime like what happened in Bakemonogatari with Koyomi. Right now I'm leaning towards the LN's first but would like recommendations on what to do.

It doesn't really matter, I personally watched the anime then read the LNs, some of the Kyon trademark sarcastic cynical inner dialog is lost but very little. Also if you do watch the anime, I have to recommend the dub, Wendee Lee is an okay Haruhi, but Chrispin Freeman as Kyon was a perfect casting choice and his performance really makes the show.
