How is the manga different from the anime. Without any spoilers though lol, I intend to read the manga sometime in the future.

You guys have inspired me to download and watch this. Seems pretty cool and I enjoy the psychological horror shows. Hopefully it will be somewhat similar to Chaos;Head but without the crazy swords that you can imagine out of thin air. I should probably be done watching this by the end of the week.

So I finished it and wow this series is badass.
Lots of things that the main character goes through I can relate to and they got into a lot of unique situations.
Misaki was really well done. I liked how the artist drew her and the voice actor.
I liked the mass suicide episode where he was the only one who didn't want to die but in the end he was the only one who wanted to.
Also, the confession scene between Kaoru and Nanako was hilarious - "So you like tentacle rape eh?" lmao
And the ending was cool where he went straight up nuts.
I guess the only way to cure a hikikomiri is to cut off his source of income.
And to top it all off they are creating a hentai game the entire time lol
Overall, I give this a 9/10.

When i first watched welcome to the nhk i thought it was really good! so then i bought the novel like a week later and in my opinion the novel is wayy better than the anime by far.
but then i guess if your like me you would prefer watching more than reading. But seriously if you haven't seen this anime before i would actually recommend reading the novel first before you watch the anime! =)
Well if i'd rate it i'd give it a 4/5 but the novel i'd rate 5/5!

I love this anime for it's originality, comedy, and romance. Great stuff.

I just finished watching Welcome to NHK yesterday. I have to say, it is one of the best anime series I've ever seen. On the surface it has comedy and drama, has a creative & original story, and the characters are likable as well.
What made the show great IMO was the theme of the show. NHK is incredibly well done in showing Satou being a hikimori. It would be easy to think that all you have to do is make a lazy bum of a character. But the way WtNHK tackles the topic of depression - DEEP DEEP depression - is so spot on this anime could actually be used to council someone going through a bout of depression. That is where the theme is, that depression is a pit where you will never hit rock bottom. Take that fact and consider that the show is able to keep itself light hearted despite dealing with subjects like mental break downs, social disorders, and suicide, I am astounded at how well written WtNHK is. Sato perfectly walks a line between someone you hate and someone you root and feel sorry for.
Misaki is also a great character you'll never forget. I loved how she plays the part of savior for Sato and yet you can feel that there is something dark shadowing her character. She is probably the most innocent anime character I've ever seen.
It is hard to describe how great a show this is. It isn't like your regular slice-of-life anime, but at the same time you enjoy the ride. It is bizarre and real at the same time, both hilarious and heart wrenching. I loved the music that played, and the art style.
But what touched me the most is how human this story is. You'll relate to the emotions in this story if you've ever been even a tad depressed, disappointed in life, or confused (that sound cover us all).
I'd definetly give this top marks and if you haven't yet, you HAVE to watch this.

Best Master-San
@neko-chan
now read the manga and you'll get a sudden slap on the face by reality.
since it goes on different direction. it's still good though, just "Deeper".

I enjoyed it, though there are parts where it feels like someone drugged your beverage. The manga is significantly darker, but I've only seen small amounts of it. Fun title all around. Remember, he was only 'taking pictures' of little girls, not actually doing anything with them.

Misaki is a better character in the Anime I think. She is not introverted enough in the manga. I'm not done with the manga, and perhaps only because I saw it first, I like the anime more so far.

If they showed this on adult swim then I assume all the people who say up late to watch it would get depressed as they would see themselves as Sato.

I watched the anime and read the novel and loved it. Since so many people praise the manga, I think I'll read it now.

Giant necro bump!
So I just finished this because I hadn't heard of it before this year, am I that much behind..?
It didn't live up to par on the romance genre tag that it actually got because, and I will say, no fucking progression was made, which made me rage a bit but apart from that it was a great show.

I wonder why they have Welcome to the NHK in the romance tag, it's too dark to be called a romance.

It has some small romance, almost kiss-scenes and some "I love her" moments but not making any progression apart from that is what is killing me, I hate "romance" series where there aren't any progression at all.

But overall the anime was (at least in my opinion) very good. In other words the anime was "jävligt bra" (just googe it if you don't know what it means).

But yeah, it was good, decent at the least.
