[Yamamoto Arisa] Aiko no Ma-chan

Aiko no Ma-chan is our first non-adult manga. It was originally cancelled by its publisher Comic Zenon two days before its scheduled release for fear that the manga could be considered a "harmful publication" under the Tokyo Metropolitan Ordinance Regarding the Healthy Development of Youths. In response to the cancellation the author, Yamamoto Arisa, ran a successful crowdfunding campaign on the Japanese website Fundiy and later had the manga officially published by Kasakura. At FAKKU we stand against any and all forms of censorship, so this title is especially important to us. We are proud to announce that FAKKU will be publishing the official English edition of Aiko no Ma-chan! [color=#9D0A0A][size=24]Aiko no Ma-chan[/size][/color] Aiko no Ma-chan tells the story of Aiko a girl who, shortly after getting her period, discovers she has the ability to talk to her vagina Ma-chan. Ma-chan accompanies Aiko on the path to womanhood while teaching her about growing up and becoming an individual. Unlike other publications, Aiko no Ma-chan does not shy away from 'taboo' topics such as menstruation and female masturbation. Aiko no Ma-chan is a landmark publication which demonstrates the diversity in how we talk to girls about their bodies. It's a coming of age story of a young girl dealing with the hardships and experiences of getting your period and experiencing sexuality for the first time. Furthermore, it seeks to normalize the natural changes of a woman's body through puberty by using manga as a medium, making it accessible to a wider audience. This is of course in stark contrast to how typical Japanese media fetishizes developing girls while also condemning them for the natural changes of their bodies. [color=#9D0A0A][size=24]About the Author[/size][/color]Yamamoto Arisa was the assistant to Hajime Isayama, the illustrator of Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyoujin). She had been an artist since elementary school and worked on Attack on Titan with the goal to create Aiko no Ma-chan once she was finished. I seriously thought henreader would be one of the announcements and was a bit disappointed that it wasn't...

I was disappointed too but didn't want to be a party-pooper, as this is still good news. I'm hopeful we'll get Henreader's Hatsukoi Ribbon next time, and this book could be a good first step.

Oh, I remember reading chapter one of that manga.
Definitely something I'll buy.

EDIT: Oh yeah, will this book have a different format than the regular hentai books?

Good question! Those two books in particular will most likely be under a new label within FAKKU, something focused on non-pornographic titles.

Good question! Those two books in particular will most likely be under a new label within FAKKU, something focused on non-pornographic titles.

I'm not talking label, I'm talking format.
Specifically, size. I expect it to be a small book, instead of the big ones we usually get.

Unfortunately, I have some bad news about Aiko no Ma-chan. We received notice that we were outbid by another English company and as a result FAKKU will not be publishing it. Those of you that were looking forward to this title (I know I certainly was) I hope you still support the official release when it eventually comes out, regardless of who publishes it.

As this was technically our first entirely non-adult manga the process to license it was a bit different than what we're used to. We learned quite a bit over the course of negotiations and going forward we'll make sure things like this don't happen again.

Sad to hear it, but at least we know there will still be an English release regardless, and you now have the necessary experience to avoid such trouble in future.
