However I do agree with what someone said about lack of content, the fact you've removed all your scans all at once and only have your new legal ones seems like a very bold move. Personally it would've made more business sense to slowly remove them while you put on legal content and build up your legal section with subs and free content bit by bit.

I'm not gonna deride you for your opinion on this but try thinking of it from the JP publishers point of view, would you want a business partner to be dealing in questionable goods with your name mixed in there? Wani was a good sport for not putting their foot down and requiring that unlicensed content be removed right away, but good will can only be taken so far.

Hey Jacob,
I understand why you did this, and that you had nothing but good intentions, so I support you entirely. However this is probably it for me here. I'm a student, working 3 jobs to put myself through college. I've been using this site for nearly 6 years (8 years if you count the two where I was using the site with no account), and it has been my go-to for hentai and I adored it here. Needless to say...I can't afford 13$ a month for porn...it would be immoral of me to go about it that way, hell even 8.99$ would be out of my league. So to that I say thank you for all the wonderful and sticky memories, I wish nothing but the best for you guys, and goodbye Fakku. :)

Also lack of payment options besides credit card is definitely not good, I agree with donation options that seems best I doubt paypal would care if you had it someone can put in the description their username you confirm it and give them a month etc. Nothing wrong with that method tbh, even if that's not the case I'm sure you can provide other payment methods.

I wouldn't be so sure about that, I've seen people have their PayPal accounts closed for similar activities even when not dealing with adult material. Trying to circumvent their terms would in the end only end with PayPal cutting ties with Fakku completely, even for the physical goods.

Yep, they can be quick to lock your money and/or account. They specifically said that Paypal has employees who's very job is to look for circumventions like that. They're not stupid, and if they don't want to be used for digital porn, then they're not going to like a workaround. This isn't like a legal loophole where technically they can't touch you. They do business with Fakku at their discretion, and can drop them for any reason or no reason.

I guess you're right on this, it can look bad for business but if that was the case then I think Fakku should've discussed with them about a larger back log of hentai then the 500 they currently only have surely these companies have more then that if they've been going on for so long?

Again valid points on paypal in which case maybe try some other alternatives like google wallet etc I'm sure there are multiple companies that are ok with porn being bought with their services.

I think out of everything price and payment options will probably be the main show stopper for alot of people.

FAKKU can only translate material so quickly and bringing in more people for translation teams has long term downsides to it, its a tough situation with no clear or easy solution.

Not sure if you are still reading posts on this thread but just in case you are I figured I'd throw my opinion out there.

I've been visiting Fakku for more than 5 years (I lost count) and I completely 100% support this decision. For me this has always been about convenience and options or the lack there of. Let's face it, you can't go to the store and buy a copy, our only option was piracy, and I personally don't like taking something that someone (artist) poured time and effort into and giving nothing back.

So you have my endorsement for what that's worth.

Though I do understand some of the haters...

I personally HATE subscriptions, you essentially pay money in but never actually get something for it. Sure you could say "you get access to all this great hentai" and as true as that may be as soon as I stop paying that subscription I have nothing to show for the money I poured in. Not to mention there are only a few out of every dozen things published I have an interest in.

So in summary I wont partake in the subscription but I will use Fakku to buy the individual books I enjoy. Haters ganna hate but I think siding with the artists was the right choice.

PS. Hope this sh*t blows up and you become the Donald Trump of hentai! I expect to see the first Fakku! stores opening up in a few years. (physical stores I mean cause that would be sweet)

Hey guys! Does anyone know if the active monthly subscription also allows you to download the content directly to your computer?

Nope, but they're working on downloadable issues you can buy soon.

I hope you choose to stick around with FAKKU. If not, it's been an incredible 10 years and I want to thank all of you for being a part of it.

Twenty minutes of work for a month of hentai has been a pretty good deal so far. Thanks!

Also, thanks to Fakku-- I never have to see this :). Fakk U KCSC

Well that's good to know. Thanks for the info.
Though it'd be great if they could just include that as part of being an active subscriber. I like to just download the content and view it on the computer since it's faster that way.

That being said, one issue I did not bring up previously was the distinction between books and subscriptions. What led to this distinction?

I think the simplest way to explain this is to compare magazines to a cable TV subscription and books to DVDs. You pay a monthly, relatively small price for access to a large number of channels and shows, and if you like a certain series you buy the box set with bonus content and what have you.

We are thinking about ways to incorporate the books into the subscription—in some capacity—but the immediate focus is on adding more content to the subscription without relying on the books.

odogkiller42 wrote...
I do not understand why a unique paywall is given to books and is excluded from subscribers that do not wish to pay extra for such content.

The main purpose of the magazines is, no pun intended, exposure. Our situation is very similar to the one in Japan, where buying these two magazines on a monthly basis would cost you about the same as buying a single book. You get 40+ artists each month in the magazines, and they introduce you to new names (seven this month). Books are different, in that you support an individual artist by buying his or her book.

Going back to the previous metaphor, you can't buy a subscription for only vampire themed TV shows, but you can buy the True Blood box set.

odogkiller42 wrote...
As a subscriber, I feel slightly...what's the word...ripped off? excluded? unrewarded for my support?

I don't know if you feel this way, but I believe many of those who think the current subscription price is outrageous do that because they lack a point of reference. All they can compare it to is free, which obviously only is the case because of piracy. I've mentioned this before, but when you compare the price of these magazines in Japan, we're practically charging you nothing extra for the localization and the access to uncensored art. We're not offering a $5 product and adding the rest to cover production costs; we're localize and offer it for the same retail price as the original product.

I hope this answered your questions to some degree. I do want to stress that when you take into account what these products actually cost, it becomes hard to argue that it's a rip-off. And that goes for the subscription in its current form. We're right now actively working on the next big thing which—assuming it works out—will add considerable value to the subscription service.
