China Launches Crackdown on Internet Pornography

As if China hadn't been fucked over enough in the past by Japan and it's own damned government. All I have to say is Communism = bad and socialism FTW!

Well, that's too bad. Too much is just that, too much. Wait, does North Korea and Thailand have these kinds of censorship too? How about the Middle East?

I believe there are other countries which prevent its people from accessing certain websites, perhaps pornographic in nature too, but at the moment, China's crackdown is definitely one of the most extreme. In addition, if China is successful in such an implementation, other nations may follow suit...

Although I cannot fully empathize with Chinese for the situation they're in-- since their political environment is quite alien to me, I'm pretty confident that things like this won't faze them. They've endured shit like this for centuries, this isn't anything new to them. Still, I find it quite sad.

This is a violation of one's rights. Shoot. It's time to find that workaround. Can't have my country follow suit.

china isn't really a democracy, rather a country who follows the communist ideology. (not in a extreme way like in the soviet union , which eventually became a disaster). and therefore it's obviously alot of strict rules in china.
but look at the positive sides china is with no doubt (one of the) the strongest country(s) econimical and military wise. so for all you capitalist people out there: a country can work quite well without beeing on the right wing (in a political manner).
(also mao zedong who is one of china's most important characters, played a big part in the many reforms in china who eventually made china into the china we know today).

I really hate when countries try to dictate that kind of shit. I mean I understand regulating crimes and everything like that, but porn? wtf, browsing the internet for porn isn't hurting anyone. Who are they to tell people they can't do that. That shit would not fly here in the US.

Yes, the communist/socialist government is quite strict. But still, there are some politicians who abuse people's rights in other forms of government, even democratic. There are also some politicians who think that they are given the task to cleanse this world of stuff, blah, blah, so they tell people to do this or that for their own sake, but actually, these officials are just following their own goals. It's quite true, unfortunately.

And yeah, it may not reach the US, for other countries however, well...

When govt officials can't solve problems they focus on other problems so they would look like they're doing something... Plus they get paid cause for every project they do they get part of it... At least here in my place and I know since most my relatives are corrupt politicians...

the topic about google: they might be able to tell them that they arnt doing a efficient job at receiving notices from the country's Internet watchdog that they were providing links to pornographic material their able to tell them about that but google isnt obligated to do much action of taking them out since it is a bunch of paper work and they must get like -.- a million notifications of those kind of things from all of the world and since were going into a lil problem wit money hiring people to deal with that kind of things will take to much time and money to do since making a website isnt hard to do and u can make a website with videos like with spankwire.com ur able to download the videos and u could just down load them to ur site and make another pornography site they google would have to deal with...and with them saying that they ''generate pornographic content'' they dont have anything to do with that.
