FAKKU Panel
2
So as you know over the past year I have been roaming from convention to convention meeting the fine users of FAKKU in person, and that was more than enough to keep me happy. And as you've seen most of the time we set up a booth with some stuff, have fun talking to people, and run around like fools. Well this year we are going to do things a bit different... we are going to be running some of our very own panels!
And I figure if I am going to be running a panel I might as well ask everyone to help me make it. This is a win/win for me because it allows me to be lazy and have a panel that you find interesting! The very first panel we will be running this year will be at Anime Boston. The name of the panel is "Hentai Worth Watching". So if you are going to the convention you had better attend.
The panel is 60 minutes long and the basic idea for the panel is as follows:
I feel that hentai anime in the United States is seen as a joke by the general public. And in some cases this is completely justified. But in reality there is a lot of really good hentai anime out there with amazing art and a good story. So this panel is intended to talk about some of the things done wrong with hentai brought over to the United States, and show some of the good stuff.
So FAKKU, what should we talk about?
And feel free to suggest other panel ideas you would like to see us do.

The horrible voice actors they chose to use for the dubs. Bible Black for example. I wish I lived on the east coast.

well. i supposed you can show that hentai is not like the most people think, just a porn cartoon with tentacles and other disgusting(tentacles, demon)/creepy(bondage, loli)/sick(rape, incest) things. you can show the other side of hentai too. show that hentai is not only about the sex scene, but also the story and art.
anyway, i don't know about west coast, but hentai in here(seattle) is pretty popular. i noticed how almost every entertainment shop (for example: for your entertainment) always have special shelf labeled adult porn(which basically hentai) and there are a tons of title there. i guess there are a lot of demand here.

i think you should discuss manga as well and not limit it just to anime, what the hell why not delve into visual novels like f/sn (the ero parts are pretty meh, but the story is fantastic).
You should show how the community at large (of hentai) is not for profit but for free, that people really get involved in this stuff, in many ways.

Even big chains, like FYE carry it around here.
(Although, my only experience otherwise is with one in Virginia... so that could be common everywhere else)
I would highlight some of the non-porn genres available, Love stories are common... Action happens, but usually boils down to sex (let's try to find one with decent action that doesn't). Comedy is also common, but many of the jokes are based upon this being porn..... Maybe this train of thought goes nowhere, but it's another idea.
OH, a "hentai" with sex in the backseat: Mezzo Forte. It's more noir themed, with sex used where appropriate (instead of as the main event). It's not terribly good porn, but I think it's a shining example for where I would like story to go.

I wish I could name some hentai worth watching, but even I have a hard time enjoying hentai, because of... I just prefer h-manga and doujinshi over hentai way more.

Now i'd wish you'd come to Anime North in Toronto. Not likely, but still; i'd be a cool panel to attend =D
Also, you should delve on genres and I liked the suggestion at the top about it not being all about the sex.

CONGRATS ON THE PANEL FAKKU!!!
But... What is this story you speak of in my hentai? I have honestly only seen 3 hentai in my life that i even considered to have basic storylines. Sure, they all have a plot, but a really good story in a hentai is something that is rarely seen. Therefore, I look forward to hearing about how this panel goes.
I wish you guys the best of luck at Anime Boston :)

This is what you need to talk about. CENSORINGThis only applies in Japan KUMA. Once the hentai or even doujins has been exported the censoring is the first to be remove KUMA.

One thing that might be interesting to discuss is how many people download it for free and what expectations this sets. Is there any point in a company trying to legitimize it if nobody will buy their products?

I watch a ton of hentai but honestly because it is a joke. Its usually so horrible I can't help but laugh and the situations that the characters get into make me laugh my ass off. A doctor treating bizarre sex cases? A guy with a hypnotism gun? A guy who unknowinly boards a room at a brothel? A supergirl that gets powered up from sex? A guy who accidentally gets a hold of invisible pills? You know there's some Grade-A entertainment to be found there and the list is neverending.
With that I leave you with a screenshot of one of my favorite classics: Ogenki Clinic
