blahblahblah I either only watch anime so I'm ignorant of other media or I'm just biased blahblahblahAgain, I must say you don't pay much attention to most other mediums if you truely think any of that is unique to anime alone. It's really not worth my time to argue this any more. But I guess you somehow think that other forms of medium don't have just as pitiful writing or presentations or genre's. If so then there is nothing I can say to you other than maybe you're just not exposing yourself to much of it, or are just very selective. In which I guess you're either very good at weeding out the bad examples in other media, but somehow fail to do so in anime, or are just plain lucky.

I'm singling out anime, because, let's face it, if your medium has "harem" and "magical girl" as highly viable genres, if the vast majority of the characters your medium produces are immature wankers still in high school, if most of the dialogue in almost everyone of your medium's shows consists of completely inane conversation akin to talking about the weather, you just have to stop and think for it second.Yeah. Don't you just miss the days when expert writing, plot and character development, and good ol' fashion hard work were prized before any "quickly slapped-together machine" was even considered "fine art?" Outside the popular stuff, the pro-otaku stuff, and the strictly art-house stuff; the rare jems are, and have always been, sparce and rare.
Kurenai was hard visual medicine to watch. But it was better than a lot of those titles that consist of soft-porn and moronic writing. And a positive vote goes to Vampire Knight as well.
I've been calling it: "There's gotta be something for everybody." And the zombies who'll gladly follow studios like Kyoto Anime, however bad they might treat them, had been spoken for.
Believe it or not, though: There are anime creators in Japan who would love for their works to be popular outside of their country (and also get money for said works). All they need to do is some professional market research and avoid giving us crap like the "visual novel" -based anime; as well as anything created by $unrise, Kyoto Anime, and SHAFT.

There are some people who seem to think ANIME SERIOUS BUSINESS. No, no, no... anime is the wrong medium (other the occasional Miyazaki film) if you want something other than fun.All businesses are serious. Businesses make money. Money can come from making anime. Therefore, anime is serious business.

I would like to add that the writing in most Romance novels is horrible and makes H-manga and Doujinshi look like they have the best writing in the world. I'm serious this time.

Whoa... so the part where Tomoyo becomes a sex maniac... I thought that was a rumor at first but now its all true...
Is it really that bad though? Tomoyo is like one of my fav girls out of clannad (Kyou second though)
Hav u got the screenshot of it if you hav it?
Sorry to disappoint you but the sex fiend part is text only, no cg. Not only does Tomoyo goes bad so does Tomoya (and that's without the coma). So I would classify that as a bad end. I would post the images but it's been a while since I played it though and screenshot all cg are a pain in the ass. There might be some generous soul out there that's willing to put in the time but yeah...
BTW that screen shot of Tomoyo's bear disguise and Tomoyo is just wrong man.Whenever I see that bear I just think of poor Tomo...
Thats fine with just text, i would hate myself looking at tomoyo in a bad situation. Kinda releived now.
Yeah i know what you mean with the bear and tomoyo thing though, but i just keep thinking its tomoya is in there. Happy thoughts, happy thought... XD Oh btw, its photoshoped.

Let's put this to rest. Tell me a book/movie/etc that had a girl jump down from a jet and start singing J-pop to stop a rebellion or had the main character, who's a renowned terrorist and is trying to take down the world's largest empire, going around wearing an ass-hat, and the viewers don't care. My point is this - anime excels at bad writing and fans of anime like anime exactly for its bad writing. See: Code Geass has an 8.70 rating on AniDB. R2 has a temp rating of 8.95. MF has a temp rating of 8.74. What??? If you're arguing that this stuff is genius, then, well... I'm not sure what to say. If a book/movie/etc tried to pull this shit, it'll get shot down by viewers and critics alike in a heart beat.
Plus, you happily ignored my other request: Name an anime this season that you can take seriously. Because I need something else to watch.
I dunno. I picked up a Daniele Steele novel once and I have to put a tier above horribly placed sex. But a very small tier above.
This is interesting. You quoted me above this paragraph, but who are you talking to? I never said anything of that sort.
KyoAni has fans for a reason. Haruhi was well written enough and I don't see how you can put together a harem anime better than Kanon.

Like I said; there's Vampire Knight. And, if you don't mind said "bad writing," there's Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS.
This is interesting. You quoted me above this paragraph, but who are you talking to? I never said anything of that sort.
You said that "a person would have to stop and think for a second" because of all those themes within them. That second, for me, was a long time ago between 1999 and 2000; when I saw the Evangelion movies. I never looked back since as I called bullcrap on 90-95% of the anime industry.
KyoAni has fans for a reason. Haruhi was well written enough and I don't see how you can put together a harem anime better than Kanon.
If you're talking about the Kanon anime made by Toei, I can agree on it.
And I accept your challenge on "well-written anime:" Black Cat, E's Otherwise, Himawari, Claymore, and Ouran High's Host Club.

And I accept your challenge on "well-written anime:" Black Cat, E's Otherwise, Himawari, Claymore, and Ouran High's Host Club.Hmm. It seems to me that your tastes are simply very different from the rest of us. Not that I disagree on the titles you mentioned, but some recent well-written titles, such as Sola and EF: Tale of Memories, are conspicuously missing. If it takes some unconventional twist on the romance genre to hook your attention, I daresay you're probably just bored of the genre, which is understandable if you've been watching the same type of plot over and over.
Each to his own, I suppose. And like I said, if you're going to approach anime at this present age expecting some sort of expert master plot, you'd best turn to other media. It's more pop culture than anything else now, and you know what pop culture is if you evaluate it that way. Trash.
The way I see it, just enjoy them the way they're supposed to be enjoyed, and not say to yourself "this is garbage" over and over again in your head every time you watch something. I mean, you could say the same thing about Asian music. All of them are trash in my opinion (J-Pop, Cantopop etc.), but I still enjoy them from time to time.

But a very small tier above.Well, I can't argue have an intelligent discussion with you there as I have never read a novel by Daniele Steele. But when you read a romance novel, written by a woman, that has a pirate raping a 16 year old girl, and having said girl, who isn't 'mentally damaged', fall in love with said pirate, you know something is wrong. Granted, that's bottom-of-the-barrel, but it (and most other romance novels I've read) are actually very similar to a lot shoujo-smut in manga. And shoujo-smut, as a whole, is very ridiculous.

My friend (who has tons of pics of guys that look like girls on her iPod and tried to convince me that they're "handsome") convinced me to try it out. I got through about 7 minutes of it before I had to look at some pr0n to reaffirm my sexuality.

this is becoming... rather debateable. all im gonna say is that the text written in the spoiler was pretty good, the context was funny at times but it was really engaging. whos this tomoyo and what h-game(?) is she from?

As for the paths, I have to say that it's some what disappointing. Not really true to the games title (Clannad = family), most of the girls' paths were generic bishoujo love crap I found quite boring. There was one that was quite sweet (Yukine's) and Tomoyo's path digressed into and odd-yet-lovable-couple-struggling-with-societal-views story that became quite interesting. I suppose the best of Clannad comes from After Story, a giant epilogue of sorts that tells Nagisa's and Tomoya's struggles of living as a couple on their own. This is where the family theme in Clannad really shines through.I see. I haven't really played that many bishoujo games yet, and I see what you mean by 'boring generic bishoujo love crap'. I've only played the Misae, Tomoyo, and Yukine arcs, and am in the middle of the Fujibayashi twins arcs, but I decided to play Tomoyo After first. So you could say I've experienced the best the Clannad game had to offer so far, and I like it. Granted, it's not epic and incredible the way Fate/Stay Night was, but it's a nice one to open up and play after an eventful day.

I've heard bad things about Tomoyo After, but given the 5 h-scenes with Tomoyo, I'll be eagerly awaiting the translation. But given, the speed of the translation at this point, I think it'd be faster just to learn Japanese. OTLI seriously doubt anyone really knows much about this game at this point. Looking at the walkthrough I found yesterday, I think you're hearing it from people who just randomly picked choices without understanding anything that was going on, and getting bad ends. Seems like there's a "true end", and, although I don't want to sound like I'm very sure because I'm not, it doesn't look like it's gonna be that depressing.

By the way, does this post possess some hope for Fakku getting us more (quality) Clannad h-doujins? Because I sure as hell can't find any.Heh. I have a lot of the older ones, but they really aren't anything spectacular. They'd probably be translated by us by now if they were worth it. XD As for the newer ones, well, you guys probably know better than I do.
But, to be honest, I don't think most of the Clannad girls are suitable to be in doujins. =S

would you mind post the link of that walkthrough?, i wanna to see it for a bit XD :D
btw, it must be good if our site have tomoyo's doujinshi :P, the best girl in clannad ever.
(Honestly, I feel disappoint to key a lot, when i know the true ending of Tomoyo After.) << the one that Tomoya died, that look like bad end for me, even it is the true ending of this game

If that is the true ending of the game you should have placed it in a spoiler box and warned everyone about it, some of us want to play the game and not know the ending before getting it. While I don't care much about it, some people do.

Hahh.. another "strange story".. :D I like these. By the way, I don't know how old r u, so maybe its true what others wrote (its kinda strange to do smth like this with a 16 yrs old girl), but that depends mainly on age.. (btw who cares..this is an another world ^^)

your story.. was hilarios but i had a sharp pain in my chest to just say: you really need a gf to get a sense of reality. but hey im on a hentai site... but still im sure if u try harad and get a girl ud probs give her some pretty good loving.
