[Orcsoft] Oral Lessons With Chii-chan

It's a shame that an exclusive game has no more info besides an annoucement, it's already September and no news if this is getting delayed/tested/translated.

Orcsoft is a renowned brand among eroge, they are finally getting a legal western release and there are a lot of people willing to buy this, but here we are wondering if this will be relased or not.

This release has become the resident Fakku meme. This really is a joke. A tasteless one.

So I want to talk to you all about the situation surrounding Chii-chan. First off, I'd like to apologize to everyone anticipating the release and especially anyone who has already pre-ordered the game. I'm truly sorry for the lack of communication and will strive to provide more frequent updates in the future.

Now for the bad news: the title will unfortunately have to be delayed to the end of 2019 for several reasons (which I'll do my best to explain).

To start, this is both a passion project for us and Orcsoft as well. As you may know, we are the first localization company to work with Orcsoft in the west and we want to ensure that we can foster a strong relationship with them so we may potentially bring other titles of theirs to overseas fans in the future. In other words: we want to get Chii-chan right and that means delaying the release. And as previously announced, we're also working with Orcsoft to release exclusive Chii-chan merchandise with the game.

Chii-chan is somewhat longer than initially anticipated, and translation progress has stagnated somewhat. It's around 15-20 hours long, and has A LOT of h-scenes. Translation work is beginning in full again with 2 more translators and will be finished in the next couple months. Technical work for the game is mostly done, and editing will begin soon as well. There will of course be a need for beta testing before the game is released, but that should take significantly less time compared to the bulk of the localization work.

I know you all trust Fakku to be transparent and reliable when it comes to delivering the best erotic content around in a timely manner, and the current state of Chii-chan's release is especially not what you would expect from Fakku. I'll do my best in the future to provide timely updates for our in-house localizations, as well as ensuring that we can release games on schedule.

We've also prepared some new screenshots we took from the latest English version of the game that can be seen below.

In the meantime, we recently released both "Love Cube" and "My Little Sister Can't Possibly Have A Hemorrhoid?!". Both are high quality releases and representative of the type of games we want to localize. We've also been working hard curating a fairly large and varied selection of games from third party publishers that might be of interest as well; plus we have even more on the way.

Thanks for the update. Although I wish I was playing the game now, I'd rather wait for it to be released in high quality as opposed to broken and needing lots of patches.

Too much PR talk to say what most of us were expecting months ago: that this would be delayed.
You could have said this sooner since this title was announced almost a year ago with no more info about it until now that we are approaching the end of the supposed release date.

Also, 15-20 hours long? Did we play the same eroge...? Are you releasing the extra chapters too?

Anyway, what can we do now? Just wait. I was really happy and glad to know that an Orcsoft title was finally being released to the western audience, but it seems it didn't get the proper treatment it deserved. Still, I hope more orcsoft titles are released, and the nukige market grows too
I will wait then. But this, like many other things that Fakku has done before, could have been handled way better.

Honestly, I'd rather have the game delayed but done properly, especially since I'd like to see more quality localizations of Orcsoft titles in English (emphasis on quality). If FAKKU and Orcsoft maintain a good relationship there's a good chance we can see more of those releases. The alternative would be that Orcsoft isn't happy with the way Chii-chan was handled and they decide to do the releases themselves/have a less competent company handle the releases. Speaking from experience, some Japanese eroge/visual novel developers have tried to enter the English market directly, and things definitely didn't go well for the titles they localized, especially since they don't seem to know (or sometimes even care about) what a good English release is. I'm talking about things like removing sex scenes, poor English translations , Steam-only releases, and censoring CGs. I'd rather avoid problems like these. The delay sucks, but I'm glad FAKKU cares about doing a quality release. I do have a suggestion though. It may be better from now on to avoid giving a timeframe for release for a game until it's ready.

Anyway, I'm really excited for this game as it has a kogal heroine and the art is by Hamashima Shigeo.

Nice to finally here back from the team working on this. Hopefully we do get this by the end of the year (hope maybe Nov or Dec). The biggest criticism I can give is yes, the lack of communication and the pre-order status. You guys went AWOL with communication and you guys opened up pre-orders way too soon, like the beginning of the year which I did pre-order hoping it would be done on time. Let's just hope this serves you guys a lesson to open up pre-orders once you guys get the final build of the game or like a week before release.

I did want to comment that I vetted the other two translators who we brought on board, so I have no concerns about the quality of their work, and the work that's already been done is great as well.

Good, it can be a patch, just like the original release.

Did you send a support ticket for a refund? I'm kind of surprised FAKKU wouldn't refund the money since I remember them being pretty good about it in the past and because this is a pre-order.
