I think I was in fifth grade at the time, first heard about it on the radio on the way to school but neither my dad or I caught exactly what happened, just that a plane was hijacked. It wasn't until I got to school and the morning announcements came on that I actually heard exactly what happened and we proceeded to head to the school library to watch the news on it.
To be perfectly honest my only thoughts were that it meant I got more time to sit and wake up without having to listen to lectures or do any work since we sat there for at least an hour if not two. Even now that I understand the impact of it I'm tired of hearing about it and seeing movie after movie and documentary after documentary made about it. It was a tragedy and people died, but so was Pearl Harbor and the Holocaust, enough already.

I was in 4th grade, 10 years old, school ended early for some reason - thinking back have made me realize it was probably because of the accident, seeing as my homeroom teacher was half-american.
I got home, put on the TV to just pass some time, notices that the news all show same clip on every channel.
I really had no idea what the WTC were, but even I understood that it was something big that had happened.
