Anime club activities...?

I don't know if Bleach has even been dubbed over here... Naruto has been, watched it on TV once. Absolutely horrible.
The weeaboo phenomenon isn't as strong over here though, so I guess the few lost souls I'd attract would be genuine.

So... what activities does an anime club do? I think a club more like Genshiken would be way cooler, but 1) don't know how to name that one 2) would be too overboard for most students
1. Just use the english translation of Genshiken? If u don't know it's "The Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture". 2. It's not like you have to force yourself watching anime or play Japanese games all day long, why not just watch some anime, play some games you like, and then build a discussion from that of what you think of them.

I'd have to translate that one yet again... which makes it sound kinda lame.
"Die Gesellschaft für Studien moderner visueller Kultur", and visuelle Kultur (visual culture) doesn't really make that much sense, lol
Easiest would be "Otaku club" - right to the point. Short and sweet, haha

I'll think about it... I'm already having second thoughts here :\

You're German? Anyway, just call it "Studien moderner visueller Kultur" then. Visual culture just refers to anime, movies, games, manga, (figurines, posters and such could possibly also fit in there) etc.

Lol you speak German? Cool shit dude, I begin to like you despite the attitude you normally show around me lol
I know what visual culture refers to, but I've never heard that before and IMO, it sounds kinda... strange.

Hah, too bad, I do not speak German, but I have enough sense to be able to translate a language so alike my own (and so alike English) and just delete the right words from such a simple line. Not hard =)
Well, I guess, since I think it's made to sound important. Well, Iono, wouldn't Otaku Club or Anime Club or just Nerd Squad should do the trick anyway? =P

I like Otaku club, because it's an "inside" term that is mainly understood only by those who are into this stuff.

JAMA - Japanese Anime And Manga Appreciation Club.
We did alot of things. But I was most interested when we had trips to AnimeCons and twice to Japan.

I was the president of an anime club at my college a few years ago. We pretty much just talked. We never watched anime because 1) we didn't want to sit still for twenty minutes, and we could just watch stuff we wanted to see at home, 2) our tastes varied, so we rarely wanted to watch the same thing, and 3) we all loathed the idea of trying to watch a series over the course of a few weeks (and new members probably wouldn't want to watch episodes 5 and 6 of a 26-episode series). So, we talked and laughed. Pretty much, it was a way to kill time, have fun, and meet people with similar interests. My main friends to this day are people I met at the club.
With Genshiken, all the guys in the club had a certain manga they read and a certain show they watched. Expecting the same to happen in your club is stupid, to be frank. If you have five people, at least one of them isn't going to like something. Like, if four people like Naruto, the fifth person will hate it, or if four people love Lucky Star, the fifth person will hate it. The odds of an entire group liking the same series is incredibly low. That's certainly what I ran into. I think the best way to handle that is to talk about all sorts of things, so everyone gets included in some way. Don't just talk about action series or romance series, I mean. That is, if you want members. If you just want there to be you and three or four other people, you can do whatever you want, but if you do that, the club won't live long. Again, that's what happened with mine. I graduated, and there was no one to continue the club.
I guess, to put it simply, be open and friendly. That's really the most important thing. And don't let other people take the reins. Once you lose power, you may never get it back. Meaning, don't let people walk all over you or cause a ruckus when you're trying to do something.

Have parties and cosplay events where you guys can just talk about whatever you want and eat what you like? Maybe just do what a regular group of friends do? Sorry not a lot of ideas

When I was still in an anime club all we did was watch anime and hang out. Every now and then we held an art contest or a videogame contest (last one was SSBB or DDR I can't remember). there weren't too many members though, there were like only 7 people when I left.

Is the French Horn such a rare instrument? It seems everyone I know here is only into piano or guitar

lol@the sharing hentai part
I think I'd need the dean's approval and a club room first :\
French Horn is quite rare if you don't know many classically trained musicians.
Hell, even finding a decent Saxophone player is a PITA

Hey guys.I'm thinking about founding an anime club at my university, last I checked, there was no such thing. Only WOW, movie and Warhammer clubs.

Any of you guys been in an anime club? If so, what was your average club meeting like?
You should. Then compare animes from around the world. Re-write the animes with weird comments. Buy a keg of beer and a couple of dime bags and just go crazy.

At my high school all it was was watching anime. No discussions, no nothing. College doesn't have one. If you want one, Nashrakh, make one. I remember getting kicked out of my high school anime club and then banned from it.
