its hard to ignore the same threads after its been a month. And no one has qualms about seeing the stickies every day because they ignore it unless they need it. Same can be done for masturbation threads.
I could say the same for all these complaint threads popping up every week about noobs. There are many more of these than masturbation threads.

I guess I just haven't been here long enough, but I fail to see the problem. Its just harmless fun. I still see plenty of serious discussions in Series Discussion and Random is jut full of random odds-and-ends. It seems like a big deal out of nothing.

PD, if everyone just ignores problems then they become overwelming.
If you cook dinner and there some dishes left over, but cba'd to clean them that night, then the next night you cook dinner again and have even more dishes. Then you don't want to do it because it seems like too many. You leave it alone and it continues to pile and pile - pretty soon you don't have any dishes left at all plus bugs are starting to appear.
Then when you do get around to finally doing them - things are caked onto plates and pans and you have a really hard time getting them clean.
It would have been easier to not have ignored the first set of dishes in the long run.
Granted, that's just an example. I'm not implying whatsoever that you're not clean or anything.
But the point of that is, maybe you can ignore it - but what about new users? Do they want to come in and see the mess?

There are moderators for a reason and a mod's job to be a mod. I shouldn't have to point out the obvious.I'm not saying we should ignore the dishes. We have dishwashers for a reason. No need to kick up shit and flame people for leaving the dirty dishes. Just have a professional take care of it.
If people really want to help out Fakku, making a thread and starting a flame war isn't the way. Which brings us to a mutual agreement that it should be done through a PM.

I see no problem with masturbation topics in general. However, if people are making a new thread to say something that would have fit in a previous thread (unless it is old enough to get them yelled at for a necrobump) or asking a question that has been asked before, then there's a problem. If they (somehow) have an original question that has not been covered before, I see no problem with it. I, personally, think the post quality rule should be extended to making all topics at least somewhat original, but not to the point of making it impossible to make a new topic.

That's fine and all, but also a little disrespectful. Just because we have a dishwasher, doesn't mean we can't go and at least clean off our plates before stacking them to be washed.
How would you like it if thousands of people stacked up dirty dishes and not bothering to rinse or anything and then you having the responsibility to make sure it gets cleaned up?

From now on, masturbation threads go in IB. Mark them if you see them. The man has spoken. Don't make him whip out his brown belt.
On a serious note, I don't think it's a question about x number of threads or about quality. I really think it's the noobs that create the mess, and the non-noob members and admin staff clean up after them, which is getting ridiculous.
Maybe we need a rule that imposes a no-posting-threads until you have x amount of posts... though most likely it'll backfire like the post requirement to get into User Uploads. I can't stand the fact that noobs are creating idiotic, senseless threads all over the place, and some of them have to balls to make a request with less than 50 posts. RARGH!

The only problem with that is, as we've seen with Hime - it's very easy to rack up a post count. Which is spamming.
People will spam no matter what if they require a certain number to do something.

Yea, which is why I mentioned it'll backfire... sigh. Is it so hard to be courteous and have common sense on the net? Apparently it fucking is.

WHat the fuck are you guys talking about.
This is about repeated threads, not fucking dishes.
I'm reporting ya'll.

I view these threads the same way that I view the posts of people that ask in the VN section "Is this game English?!?!?!" (No it's not goddamn English!). Sure they are annoying but they will happen again and again no matter what we do (we have even made sticky threads to stop it but to no avail). So I just don't let it get to me as bad as I did. I sort of gave up I guess you could say. There was no longer any point in complaining to the users cause a new user will just pop up and say/post it again no matter what. That's the mindset I have about most threads/posts like this nowadays.

Yea, but for an example - even I have had threads locked.
I know mike's locked one or two of mine because I accidently reposted in specific anime series section of the forums.
He just locked it and provided me a link with the other thread that was available.
In those sections it's not quite as fast paced as Random is. That's why I suggested that after the 5th page on fakku all threads are locked. They're old, and they haven't been spoken in.
If the topic you want isn't in the search function - by all means, post about it and chat about it.
If it is, and it's not locked - feel free to post in it.
I think that's a pretty simple way to fix any reposting issues.

I think there should be a sticked masturbation thread, to try to prevent reposts. I think if certain threads are repeated too often then maybe there could be one sticked thread for it.
Just a idea. While i certainly don't want a over-policed forum, i will admit seeing the same thread posted 5 different times can get annoying.

Well PersonDude since you asked for me here I am. Now I shall proceed to gut your entire argument.
The Admins and Mods have said many times that they do not have the time to moderate every thread in the forums and that it would be unnecessary to make half the users into mods just to get people to follow the few simple guidelines we have here that passes for a set of rules. Sure we could just report every single thread that we see that's spam but that only addresses the symptom, not the cause. Since the dawn of fakku time the more seasoned users have been in charge of dispensing advice. Hell we didn't even have any mods until this year because there wasn't a serious need for them. Like Nikon said in his thread that's currently stickied, Fakku isn't 4chan so there is no reason for people to think the post style should be the same. I have no idea where people get the idea that Random is somehow supposed to be like IB. It should be pretty clearly that the purpose of Random is to discuss topics of a not overly serious nature with some humor and seriousness mixed in. Even IB is not a section for spamming completely meaningless threads. Sure a couple is fine but the amount we're getting is astounding. As for Jacob saying it's ok to repost threads, I highly doubted his meaning was that it was ok for people to have 10 threads about your wang a day. What he probably meant is that it isn't a big deal if you make a new thread for anything older than say 5 pages in as opposed to necrobumping. I agree that specific issue has never been fully addressed but that's probably because the Admins feel we can use our own common sense for determining the specific details of how best to follow the rules as opposed to being babysat. Most likely because they are trying their best not to be the Tyrants you seem to be (needlessly) worried about them turning into.
Also as for your "here are your elitists" comment...1) You only listed 2 people, not really an amazing show of force from team elitist. 2) Zo and Illumi are pretty fair people who give others a lot more chances than others around here (myself included). 3) Why are you suddenly so hostile? You used to be a nice guy. I know this because you've been here long enough to be part of the "elitists" you claim exist (because the only criteria I can see that you're using are 1) been here more than 3 months and 2) Don't have 50% or more of their posts be spam.)
Edit: Also if people just want to talk about totally random crap as if they're using a chat program there's tons of places for it. There's for one the RS thread, then we have IRC, the chatroll thing, and probably a bunch of others I don't remember.

Banning all masturbation threads is a bit harsh...
Earlier today, actually, I had a legit wank-related question.
Having been here for more than a week, I decided to use the super-happy-fun-time-search-machine rather than repost a repost of a repost.
OH HEY! Checkitout! A thread with a closely related topic, which answers my question:
https://www.fakku.net/viewtopic.php?t=19398&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=masturbation+roommate&start=0
Moral of this story:
I think, as FAKKU! grows, we should find a mid-ground between using the search function, and re-posting used topics.
There is a point where an issue has been argued out so far that another post will be lost in the shuffle-therefore, posting a new thread will serve to re-fresh with newer ideas and perspectives, as well as not scaring the dim.
But, some topics, questions, or ideas should be searched first, even if you only go as far as the third page.
As has been said, it is up to the older users to help the mod staff, and create the unofficial norms which keep the quality high, rather than going on until an entire thread genre is blacklisted.

I don't like this. I just don't understand what is wrong with Random. I'm not going to post in Nikon's thread since I'm so new, but I don't like it at all. I just don't see anything as being wrong. I know I'm overly aloof, but I think many others are being too strict. This place is so great because we can let things like that roll off our backs and not worry about it.
As for elitism, I've already given my stance. There is definitely and elitist presence amongst SOME of the older members around here, and I don't see how you can deny it. There are too many people here who pressure all the new members to act and say exactly what they want. It isn't advice it's senseless bullying from some of the members. It feels like some of them really think they run the site, and only their way is the correct way and be dammed if you think differently. It's sickening.

In restaurants, there are people who wash dishes so the customer's don't have to do it. One reason is for the convenience of the customers, but another reason is so that the dishes are actually clean. If you get the customers to do it, it may not be clean, and might cause problems for the restaurant down the line.
It's like the forums now; people think they're doing the community a service by reprimanding the newbs, but they start flame wars and making noobs feel like utter crap, is actually brining it down rather than helping it. It's best to leave it to the people who were meant to do it rather than causing them more problems.
Of course that's not to say there are thing we can't fix ourselves, but making threads like these isn't the way.

Elitists are people who just think they're better than others and think they're part of a higher status, and people who think they're doing their society a favor etc.

I'm doing it because I see people who think they're helping the community by starting flame wars and trying to look good by pointing out other's mistakes out as if they don't have their own flaws. You might say I'm part of this too with these comments, but I really don't have any other way to point this out.

Lol, I love you too... in a none gay way. I'm glad you didn't take this too seriously, because I spot some elitism in myself here and there as well.

Fakku isn't a diner though, it's supposed to be a community. Communities help each other out and do their part of their job. As Nikon mention in his thread - we can do our part by reporting.
I don't think threads should be made to target somebody. Though I wouldn't really consider this thread to be one. Illumi used the masturbation as an example - he never once made any notion of a name to stop what they're doing.
No one is ganging up on a person, and I think we're all being pretty mature about the situation.
I agree that it isn't someones business to go 'hey - you need to stop posting.' I'll admit I'm not pristine. Hime would be an example. I was overly harsh on her, but I did send her pms and politely asked her to change some things - which she did. I pmed her about her signature, here's what I sent to be exact:
I was just pming to suggest resizing your signature or putting it in brackets. The only reason I'm really letting you know is because sometimes it really bothers people who have large signatures (it makes pages longer and so forth) and load time slower.
Thanks,
Ziggy
Her response was:
yeah, I realized that after I had gone to bed and I planned to do just that today. gomenasai! ^^;
Sometimes all it does is take a simple pm to let somebody know they're not doing something correctly.
I also put in a spoiler that her pink font was too light, and she changed it to a darker pink font.
I also said some things I shouldn't of - but you learn from your mistakes.
I think Hime is an excellent example of how not to treat somebody. I don't think she was stupid, I think she was just overly excited and a little naive.

It's not that I think myself as better, it's more of I know how the forums are, and I know how the forums were (not since the beginning, however). I've grown to enjoy this community and I'm finding it harder to enjoy it sometimes because of peoples behaviors.
I think everyone is trying their best to take a step up. I've been noticing a considerable amount of change from Waar and TMS.
