Over a million casualties for a few miles
If you ask me, the people commanding the armies were all pretty stupid
WWII generals though

Now we're talkin'. How about Guderian and Galland?
Gotta hate Hitler's incompetence. He usually judges situations with his emotions, leading to a reckless and haphazard way of commanding. He's more of a politician than a tactician.

No kidding,
I disagree with his decision to fire von Rundstedt, though admitedly he screwed up in leaving that bridge.
And of course, his foolish decisions in the Battle of Britain
on and on, no wonder his own damn generals tried to kill him.
Though, he was pretty damn charismatic
Dammit, if only the Axis weren't tied up in the Yugoslavian area, they might've knocked out the Soviet Union.
Then, it would have been quite interesting.
I always lament the fact that WWII is so short, although I'll probably get slaughtered by moralists for saying that.

He should have continued Operation Sealion. Since the British Army's been crippled back in Dunkirk, the only ace that's keeping them up is the RAF. They should have swarmed the beaches, then controlled the surrounding airfields. And oh, another thing is the Wunderwaffe projects. Imagine if Adolf decided to approve some, if not all of the projects, like the Amerika Bomber project that may have sapped the morale of the US.

Gentlemen, it is wonderful to see this thread live it's own life.
Music for Today:
I suppose then, world should be glad that Hitler was a retard. Too bad Stalin wasn't.

Nah, as strong as the RAF were, I still think teh Luftwaffe could have achieved air dominance over them. I mean, German aces were da bomb after all. Wunderwaffe projects were amazing indeed, but i doubt American morale would have fallen so easily, I mean, 90+ percent didnt even know the Atlantic charter. Most likely it would have been Pearl HArbor v2. STill, other projects...I mean, the v-1 and V2 were brilliant. WHat irks me the most about Hitler is his retarded Operation Barbarossa, i mean, how dumb can you be, why attack them at that time? Napoleon all over again.

Reporting for duty, Herr Kapitan. So, how's it goin'?
@Max: You bet'cha. Gotta blame Goering and his incompetence.
Pear Harbor V2 in New York. That'll really scare the fuck out of 'em, like destroying the Statue of Liberty. Since the war's multifaceted, targeting nat'l landmarks and symbols of the said nation will strike fear into their hearts.

A Fact: Luftwaffe could never beat Polish pilots. English were intelligent enough to give them Spitfires after a while.
And at that point, Battle of Britain was won, though it wouldn't be noticeable for several years.
...Although the fact Goering was probably the worst chance for an Air Marshall helped. Under him, Luftwaffe lacked any sport of target co-ordination. Nazis penchant for psychological warfare also backfired - instead of bombing cities they should have taken out airports and factories and radar masts.
Yo ho Scar, being in good mood today, no? ;3

I'm good Herr Kapitan. Yeah, they should have destroyed the radar system so that the RAF will go "Blind" during initial attacks, since they use the radar to locate and to move planes to other areas. Plus, don't forget the superb British Double Cross system.

Nah, German aces are dominant, and always have been, the best air combat people
I have to disagree with you there Scar
American people never get scared
They're just fucking dicks and annoying bitches, hypocritical bastards and conceited faggots, but they don't really get scared. They get paranoid though. I'm almost ashamed to be American
Goering sucks
German ace my ass
The Luftwaffe could have been exponentially better under someone else.I never liked Goering

Oh, they did, eventually, when Polish command did a few stupid things and Soviet Union, the second largest military on planet Earth, decided to invade.
But my point still stands - a bunch of Eastern European in outdated planes were able to make Luftwaffe cry.
And don't get me started on ground troops.
God-dammn you Stalin, did you really have to do it!?
@Scar
I see, I see~ Good to hear.
Yeah. They didn't do it, so RAF had a chance to rearm, and intergrate those expatriate units that already fought with Germans (despite some initial snobbishness on English part).

I think the only problem with German Aces is that they're continuously fighting inside the box. They've been squared in by the Allies and the Soviets in two fronts. Speaking of pilots, how about the war in the Pacific?

Who has the most aircraft carriers wins.
It's a pity about Japan though. Before the junta, their army was incredibly chivalrous and competent.
They stayed competent, but brutal discipline (installed to compensate for army expansion) led to atrocities like Nanking.

Whoa there, i admit the Polish pilots were on the whole much better in terms of skill, but the Luftwaffe remained dominant throughout the whole Polish invasion campaign. Mostly because of a lack of resources on the Polish side and the enormous advantage in terms of numbers and technology on the German side, but nonetheless, the Polish air force was to defend completely and comprehensively
Pacific front?
True, aircraft carriers were the most important factors. But so was the fact that the Japanese got their ass handed to them in almost every battle, from as early as Guadalcanal and Midway to as late as Iwo Jima. I always liked the Japanese soldiers though. Extraordinarily loyal and brave.
