Yeah, the Japs made a very big mistake at Midway. Plus, the Island-Hopping part is one of the most grueling part of the entire war in the Pacific. Talk about Guadalcanal. And atrocities, plus the Greater East Asian Co-prosperity was a failure. They should have been more friendly towards the territories they've occupied.

Hmmm, to that I can agree.
Truth be told, war is decided by how well industry, logistics and military competence work together.
'39 was a very good example of that. Poles *were* better fighters (Westerplatte - a small company repulses several divisions of Wermacht, SS, a cruiser, a pocket battleship and Stuka squadron for seven days), but they had to do with inferior technology and poor command.
No hard feelings Manga, sorry if I scared you there.
@Scar
Indeed.
The junta kinda overrode themselves on that. If they treated their subjects better, pushing them out of Asian mainland would be much scarier.
Midway on the other hand demonstrated how effective intelligence is. American knew more, and they capitalized on that.
That, and one Dauntless flight got *really* lucky.

Poles are kinda like Americans, great fighters( well, some of them) , but America has the advantage of having a shit load of resources.
LOL, yeah, I got a heart attack, so damn scared.
The Japanese just fail at warfare though
They continuously get owned in almost every battle
I prefer reading about the ETO, its much more interesting.

Not really, since they've got the whole SEA in a matter of a year or so.Their light tanks quickly maneuvered around jungles and rivers, plus their experiences in jungle warfare, leaving those White boys in hard shape, sunce they're Ill-suited for Jungle Warfare (A reason why the Commonwealth used Indians, Gurkhas and other natives) And Jap soldiers are far more worse than Nazis. Systematic rape, atrocities against suspected guerrillas, and even cannibalism.

Codebreakers really do make a difference, you're correct in saying America had vastly greater technology
@Scar
cannibalism?
Nah, the nazis were pretty bad. Not against normal people, but against the Jews

America is also in incredibly defensible position.
Who will invade them? Canada?
I'd like to try and see Japan in '42 trying to amass fleet to invade American coast. The sheer logistical nightmare it would create would be the end for them.
They did very well against British though...of course, British...weren't exactly on their best.
@Manga
Yeah codebreakers.
Just like UK's MK ULTRA.
Allies were generally more savvy in this regard then Axis. They convinced everyone, even Rommel that Overlord will happen near Cannes, and that invasion in Normandy was a vast-scale diversion.

Thats true
America has pretty much never been attacked. WEll, Pearl Harbor is the exception, and thats like a couple hundred miles away from the mainland.
They only took over the Pacific ocean because no one gave a damn, they were all busy worrying over the Axis
Yeah, they even made that fake army under Patton. Guess the German enigma wasn;t much help, their subs got considerably ineffective...

My family's been a victim of this one. One of my Great grand uncles was eaten somewhere in the Visayas region.
and MKULTRA? I thought that was a CIA project? Haha, inflatable tanks and phony recordings. Disinformation campaigns. Operation Fortitude

Holy crap....
Hmmm, maybe. I keep forgetting the code-name, because it's similar to that CIA ESP project.
I do think it had something to do with "Ultra" or maybe some shade of blue.

Either way, point is, Allies had a huge advantage. surprises me, really, because i always thought German scientists were the smartest. I mean, Einstein was German, as well as Schrodinger etc...

Oh, ultra. And don't forget about some Abwehr agents selling their info for money. Plus, some of 'em are Anti-Nazi.
Operation Paperclip.

Einstein also happened to work for Allies.
Because, uh, a lot of German scientists tended to be Jews. Not all, of course, but there was still a significant percentage.
Nazism was retarded.
But "overtechology" is also a problem. Quality-wise, a lot of German equipment was much, much better then anything Allies had. But it was incredibly time- and resource-consuming. Between bombardments and need to acquire more resources, the German armaments industry simply wasn't able to produce enough equipment like say, Soviets.
Speaking of spies, there was a Pole who dressed himself up as a German General, got smuggled into France and did a tour of Atlantic Wall there. And no German caugh on.
And there were also the British (and all the Commonwealth) SOE operatives that together with French resistance really stuck a wrench into Nazi occupation.

Plus, the drawbacks with the engines. Remember the drawbacks at Kursk, where only 20% of Panther tanks are operational? And some of the aircraft engines are unreliable too.

Oh yeah, i forgot Einstein was a jew...and that a lot of German scientists fled.
Honestly speaking, Germans did not have enough resources. The Americans mass produced a shitload of everything, and thats why they won.
THe lack of resources contributed not only to crappier equipment, but an inability to use them. Rommel, for example, overextended supply lines, one of the reasons his drive across North Africa was so criticized

Well, Axis got squeezed in between USA and Soviet Union - two nations with massive industrial capacity, determination to win and borders so wide, that invading them while fighting war on several fronts was utterly moronic.
To add to that, atrocities committed by Axis nations were very effective in spurring some high-effective and very determinated resistance efforts.
And then, there was the whole political bickering Hitler tried to infest German command with.

No kidding, Hitler is a fucking retard for Operation Barbarossa, when he hadn't even taken over Britain or achieved Festung Europa yet. Dammit, just thinking about him riles me up. An example of a retarded genius
Makes me think, America is powerful because its people are all indoctrinated.
USSR is powerful because they push on no matter what the cost

Even so, if one of the plots against him succeeded, there's a big chance that Himmler will take over and produce more shit tons of operational failures. Well, if the July 20 plot succeeded, that's a different story. That event might spark an Allied-Soviet war. Well, a low chance to be honest.

Well, some people just can't command.
The Axis probably would be better off if thy just worked out a deal with border nations (Poland, Finland, Romania, Hungary etc.), formed coalition and drove to Moscow, instead of attacking Allied nations. I bet USA, France and Britain would even hitch a ride logistically, because everyone hated Soviet Union back then. And Red Army wasn't in exactly peak condition in 1939, despite absurd amount of troops.
