Even so, if one of the plots against him succeeded, there's a big chance that Himmler will take over and produce more shit tons of operational failures. Well, if the July 20 plot succeeded, that's a different story. That event might spark an Allied-Soviet war. Well, a low chance to be honest.Seems to me that nearly all the highest German command suck
BUt that would have been epic
USSR vs US. Without the nuclear weapons of course

Or it'll be a one-sided nuke campaign, with the US using A-Bombs on large Soviet formations across Eastern Europe.

It would drag on for years.
Soviets would end up dominating most of the Europe, but I doubt they would be able to push beyond France without suffering enormous casualties, and U.S bases in Turkey, and aircraft carrier groups would give them hell.
China would probably sit on the fence and either become a third side, or hop in when it's profitable to either Allies or Soviet camps.
@Scar
I think he meant Cold War gone hot without the nukes.

But they can produce it. Thanks to the Early surrender of Nazi scientists helping the entire Oppenheimer team, according to my theories.
And China's still in a state of Civil War, if the event becomes a three-way war, including Japan of course, since they got issues regarding the Nomohan Incident.

Most likely America would have won, had it been early enough. If it was in 1970 or something, its a free for all, but a continuation of WWII, America would have dominatedm because USSR was pretty badly battered
Wait, Japan isnt involved?
Im talking post WWII, Japan was knocked out like a month after Germany, so they wouldnt have been involved in China

It'll have to choose between aligning itself. Since there's a big chance of having a 3-way war between 'em. Or if possible, Japan might align themselves to the allied cause, since they're more resentful against the Soviets.

Another reason why the Japs invaded oil-rich Palembang.

Ah I see...
Well,by that time, they prety much had control of the Marianas...
Yeah, maybe so, then Jap probably would have entered USSR. They did try to make peace with USSR towards the end after all. Not that they would have been much help

If U.S played their cards right, and wanted to invade USSR right after Germany was finished, they probably would negotiate with Japan - getting them to be neutral in return for some concessions.
In that case, they would probably save the nukes, and use them on Soviets.
Japan hated America, but they hated Soviets more. Remember it was Anti-Communist Axis.

Nah, Japs hate US
REmember the early 1900s affair, the Root-Takahara or whatever? Anyways, tension is crazy between the two. And I doubt AMericans would have taken to a peace treaty with the Japs.

50-50. Since the US wants retribution against the Bataan Death March and Pearl Harbor, plus numerous atrocities against allied POWs. Another thing is, the Pacific war is at it's peak in the mid 44s.

Well, there's Realspolitik.
They'd probably publicly execute some scapegoats, and come up with an elaborate cover story of how ruthless junta oppressed otherwise chivalrous Japanese Empire, and enforced all those atrocities etc. etc.
Even if Japan would side with the USSR, it would not only create a major division in their own ranks (technically, Japan didn't sign ceasefire with Russia...up to today. So they don't really hate Russia less then U.S), but I doubt that Stalin would use them as anything more then a dying meatshield that would buy the time for some of his divisions to haul their ass to Vladivostok.

Even if it was a year later, the fact that Japan chose to throw some peace feelers at USSR first leads me to believe that they would hve sided with the Soviets
I doubt anyone is naive enough to believe that story...then again...
Well of course, the Japs are pretty useless. They wouldnt really do any good for the Soviets, except for meatshields.

Well, it was more of a desperation move. They knew they wouldn't get a fair deal from U.S at that point, seeing how U.S had a definite advantage over them.
But Soviets never replied, since Stalin had no intentions of negotiating with them. I'm guessing he wanted to conquer Japan himself.
And U.S could have just skipped Japan and base themselves on Asian mainland, re-arming all those conservative Chinese and rallying Asian nations as a counter-balance to Soviet movements and Red Army in Korea.

Exactly.
In fact, in one Alternative Universe works I watched (I think it was Full Metal Panic), the World War II ended up with China being divided into Communist North and Capitalistic South (Japan being nominally under U.S's thumb).

Though 1984 had three states.
Oceania, Eurasia and Eastasia, with two being always at war with the third.
Of course, the vast expanses of each state meant nobody could ever overpower anyone (Eastasia was too industrious and had concentrated defenses, Eurasia was protected by it's vast open land and Oceania by seas).
