If so, break open the switches and check for electric current on wires.
But somehow I think that "one trip upstairs" is a clue to the answer <_<
So i guess we arent to use any "outside" tools? That are not mentioned

I GOT IT, the clue is Light bulb!
-Turn switch A on for a long long long time.
-Then off it, and on B
-Run upstairs at lighting speed, touch the bulb, if the bulb is hot and not lighted, its A. If its lighted, its B. If its not lighted and cold, its C!!
I got the answer by off and on-ing my room's light lol
This should be perfect RIGHT, no usage of any tools
