They are pretty all pretty much interconnected, yes. There are also some interesting relations between the various companions if you pay attention to their stories.
phew, glad I don't sound like some kind of crazy conspiracy theorist. And ya, companions are connected too. One of Doc's conversations has him bring over Kailyo from the agent's story onto the player's ship. Apparently they used to date which totally makes sense considering Doc's and Kailyo's personalities.

Romance options made me mostly choose male characters for myself, although, as said, I've made enough characters by now to see them all and more. Probably should someday make a few more girls to flirt around with the random NPCs as well.

Which ones are the torguta?
Most of mine are cyborgs. The variety of cybernetics help me make them appear unique. Hell I think the only non human/cyborg I have is my warrior who is a sith. Thought about making the green skinned ones though
