We can post a thread, demand Jacob to sticky it for a month and a half, ask everyone to write entries with no restrictions, we laugh at the entries submitted, no one gets any prizes, everyone feels cheated and we feel a sense of self satisfaction that we have organised something.
I would really like a repeat of what Shark has done. I enjoyed the Halloween event.

I can't really write an event draft right now since I'm feeling utterly lazy, but that sounds like a good idea.
I'll try reading what Shark has written and somehow copy pasta a bit of it.

Understood. If February comes, I would not be hosting that event either because of work. I have only 2 hours a day to post in the forums with work like that.
Digressing a little, what is wrong with being lazy really? The point of a writing event is to share what everyone has written. Shark's event is the perfect embodiment of this!
I believe that prizes and what not are not important at all, especially if the prizes are things I don't want to seen with. What is most important is an excuse to get people to write.

I think it starts right away. so the time to write the drafts is right now.
yeah, agreed. though I think I would done better if I put in more effort, so yeah. I kind of like Shark's format so I'm trying to go on with it on the Valentine's Event.

I suppose you do not want to hear how the past few days at the work site was like, don't you? I have to write a journal entry every two weeks. Of course, since I am a new hand, I did not get to do that much in the first few days. This has to change of course.
The first few days were spent staring at my phone. Not good.
ED: I was wondering what would happen if we did away with the theme and ask people to write anything they wanted. Up the word limit to 4000 or do not set a word limit just for laughs. I am not worried that we would have to spend a lot of time reading. I don't think anyone would read or write a 100000 word tome for that event.
Good! I think we have an event on our hands. Since you are a veteran in the Writing Section, I think you will be a better host than me.

Nah, the event wasn't on yet. I don't know if I could host something at all lol

well, if you had the time to share, I would be happy to hear it.
oh yeah I forgot the word limit.
anyway here's the draft of the Valentine Event.
The format mostly taken from the Halloween 2013 Writing Event designed by our great friend HumbugsAssociate. Much appreciated for your hard work and dedication.
Now, on to the opening note.
I'm not good but words, but speaking about Valentine, the words of being 'Single' or maybe 'Together With Someone' came to mind. Lots of things happened - one moment of time when you remembered - you simply just wanted that chocolate bars so you went and mugged the girl for it. Or you simply thought you're being so lonely that nobody's out to give you one. Your big, muscular uncle came in and gave you a chocolate pizza - well that's groovy.
Either way, Valentine's a moment for ours to celebrate. Either by eating chocolates, going out with someone, or even crying alone in sleep while masturbating to kinky sex groovy porno.
Similar to the Halloween thingy, this is not a contest - no win or lose. Just participate and get on it with all you got =)
Guidelines
The theme for this year's Valentine event will be normal enough I think, and somehow general. You can write in either themes or try to include both of them.
Let's go with Romance and Fairy Tales for this one. For the Fairy Tale thingy, at least it could give a feel of something straight out of a fairy tale.
Another one, please give the tag [Valentine 2014] to the entries submitted, and please link your entry here to be included to the list.
Same with the Halloween Entry, do not ask for others to fix grammatical errors and such - just take it easy.
FAQ
Q : Can I submit multiple entries?
A : Yup. It isn't either discouraged or encouraged.
Q : How about lemons (erotic stories)? Can we write 'em?
A : Feel free to do so.
Q : Can I submit a poem, essay, narration, etc. rather than a story?
A : Yeah, just freely express yourself mang.
Q : How about the word limit?
A : No limits for this one, it can't be as long or as short as you liked.
Anyways for the more general questions, there will be no judging for this one. We'd just participate for the sake of participating.
The deadline will be set at February 14, 2014 (UTC -4.00) - the Valentine's Day. We can accept submissions until the Valentine Day ends. Of course we could prolong things a bit for the late-submissions but don't get your hopes up right away, please do your best and submit your entries on time!

As promised, I'd better recollect what the past week was for me.
It is quite alike being in the military all over again. There is a project manager whose role is tantamount to that of an Officer Commanding. Whilst he takes orders from his superiors, he is generally in charge of the worksite. Everyone has to report progress on the site to him as well as safety issues. He decides what is to be done in the future. I was told that he has the freedom to do what he wants where building is concerned but having spoken to him, he is painfully aware of the limitations posed by manpower, time and equipment.
As for me, I am completely lost as the task assigned to me the first few days was to read drawings that I am not trained to interpret. There is only one way to learn how to do so and that is to ask, practice and ultimately learn how to do so. The worksite is segmented into sections that are numbered and lettered.
I need to know what is being built in that particular section and its elevation. I need to know what type of slab, column, 'pile cap' or concrete beam is being used. The drawings supposedly indicate that. Once that is done, I have to go down and ensure that work on the site fits the requirements stipulated in the drawings.
I suspect I need to be familiar with construction procedures. For example, how to cast concrete, how to erect a column, how to remove a pile so on and so for.
Needless to say I must be familiar with how the construction site is segmented.
Hardly what I learnt in university which tended to deal with calculating if proposed designs are feasible. That is the concern of consultation companies not the man on the site. My job is to interpret those drawings which my school did not teach. Perhaps the notations that were taught in concrete and steel design courses came in handy but even that took some time to recollect.

Woah, no prize at all.Good luck to all entrants.
well, one can just opt to be the prize giver of some sort, but since there's no judging and no winner in this one, I don't know really =)
Actually high, why are you not judging?

either way, I didn't have this thing really planned out, so maybe it's too late if we're going for the judging thingy.

Wow.
Well, I don't know about you Xenon (I know you probably said High should just go ahead), but I was hoping no one would copy Solid like that.
A prizeless event has no real weight in it.
It's just a community contest that deviates from the actual aim of the contest.
Actually, fuck this shit, I'm out.

I'm really sorry about that.
mostly it's about me for not planning things through. though for now I'd just like to see how's it going 'til the end. if it fails to proceed either way, I'm ready to take all the blame for this.

Go for it! I would participate though the theme 'fairy tale' is quite challenging. I might submit multiple entries even though time is not on my side if need be!

you could either opt for 'Love' or 'Fairy Tale' (I kind of changed the theme since 'Love' sounds more general than 'Romance' thus many things could be derived from it). I expect great things from you Leo, I think there would be much more room to parody in this one =)

The Valentine Writing event aside, xnine, can you tell me what happened in your winning contest entry? It felt like reading a journalist's article.

I'm gonna make a quick post in the winners thread now, but I've gotta return to the books afterwards. 'Till tomorrow!

Here is a reward for winning the competition. Something from the Mudslinging Thread (which you refused to read) to massage my bruised ego. On a more serious note, everything is in good humour.
