Gar Fest 2009

dammit... i did. dependables a much more powerful adjective in comparison to mine but its essentially describes the same point i was making. but i still nominate spike, kamina and gutz!
dependable to a warrior is a fellow fighter watching his flank and working together to cohort the enemy. gutz is all that and more, and with an ominous transformation hes beyond mere mortals. to win the toughest of battles with the greatest of demons. i was thinking gar was outlandish acts of awesome that went beyond instinctive needs. but...
gar:
A term used towards male characters and individuals who are so overwhelmingly manly that your own masculinity is absolutely *buried*, leaving you naught but a whimpering, swooning girl-child before them.
im trying to say the definition is vague because different people associate manliness or strength with a bunch of different adjectives. dependable, loyal or just plain savage make the grade imo. doesnt this definition imbue more of a raw force of power though? i see how dependability enters the picture here but you gotta flip the coin.
think of an enemy among their ranks that is so distinctive and ominous in presence that your fear is almost palpable. this is what gutz would be to me, hes a destructive force of unstoppable power. the manga really conveys that and simply stands out as one of my favorite literary pieces ever. fuck you, i think manga counts. lol
once again... kamina and spike speak for themselves.

hmm...i'd like to nominate servant lancer, or cu chulainn from the anime/vn fate/stay night.
he may not be much of a character in the anime, but he is a gar man alright. he was put under a ridiculous command spell which makes him unable to unleash his true potential, and makes him seemingly a weak hero. he's true to his words and also have great pride, which suits him perfectly as a heroic spirit. this is obvious when he goes against archer in the ubw route.
yeah, i really think of him as a gar one. his nonchalant attitude, just being serious when it counts, and also totally not a savage person and also his way of talking all contribute to his GARness.

The fucking GREAT TEACHER ONIZUKA better be on this list. He used to be the leader of one of the baddest gangs in Japan until he turned to teaching more-or-less because he wants to marry a high school girl. Instead he gets put in charge of one of the most notorious classes and has to win the respect of the students.Don't pick on this teacher at school... He gets revenge.

That's right, don't mess with this GAR teacher. I nominated him as well.

Alright bitches, let me straighten this out. Anyone can be nominated, as long as you state a reason and picture. If I feel they absofuckinglutely don't belong here, I won't add them to the list. If you don't think a character deserves to be in, well tough shit. Just argue about it when their battle comes along, that's the entire fucking point.

I'm gonna say this again, if you nominate a character more than one time it does not help his chances, and in fact just makes you look like an idiot who can't read the rules.

Bumping for more nominations, there is still one week left.Any chance we can get a list of nominees so we don't have to go through all nine pages to see who's already been nominated?

I nominated him earlier, but forgot to add the anime he's from, so here he is again:
Akagi Shigeru from Mahjong Legend Akagi

He'll send you to Hell, just for fun. At the tender age of thirteen, he makes an accomplished mahjong pro feel that he is worthless, and at eighteen, he's betting with his blood instead of money.
