We're not strictly thinking about zombies. With the exception of the "headshot" requirement, preparing for the zombie apocalypse is preparing for any life-shattering disaster. Earthquakes, flooding, and governmental collapse all require a fair amount of food to survive.

You know one thing you can do is get like really good with a sword or any kind of melle weapon for that matter and build your stanima that way you can just cut down the zombies and not have to collect so much guns (but probably still try to get some) I mean it not like a zombie can use a gun or any kind of weapon for that matter

I'm a silly zombie break noob that has a questions. What if some people already went the gun store and took everything, and what if some people already went to your local market and ravaged everything. Since i'm pretty sure many people will target Walmart and such for food and supply, and i'm pretty sure somebody lives closer to those stores than some of you yourselves do. Its common sense that a person will want to stock up when a zombie thing breaks loose. Right? Well i think its common sense? And when people say having friends with you, they mean like 2-4ish right? since more people means more....stuff and what not. What about infected animals such as mouses and maybe even bugs? And about the bunker thing, when some of you search for a bunker, won't that place be full or like crowded since many survivors would probably go there? and there'll be too many people to survive for years? Bad grammar sorry X.X

well..i live in florida where our gun control is about as good as china's birth control (1 billion and strong :D) so i'd do the logical thing bust into a gun store and and pick up a baddass shotgun then i'd !!!!!!....blow my brains out.... cause quite frankly good sir who the fuck wants to live in a zombie invested shithole...I MOVED OUT OF DETROIT FOR A REASON DAMMIT !!

Swords get dull, it can only chop so many zombies before you need to sharpen it. Not to mention the risk of getting bitten when your so close. But I'd go with a combination of both guns and sword.
Since I live in Canada, the winters here would be fine for me and zombies would freeze/become rather slow. Other times, I guess I'd try to find a machete or something. No guns up here, I think I'm screwed. Best thing I have in my house is a butcher's cleaver and a nail gun.

Some of the people in this Livejournal thread are completely fucking nuts. Some of them wrote PARAGRAPHS on their zombie apocalypse survival plans. Good read, IMO. :p
It got me thinking that I'm completely screwed in a zombie apocalypse. I have no particular talents that would make me worth my weight in a zombie-survival team. Even my friends might leave me to die! I suppose my best chances are to nut the hell up and desensitize myself quick. Maybe I'll be one of the first crazy people who are able to rip a zombie limb from limb while the others stand and go "eww". (Of course, eventually everyone would be desensitized, but I could earn my place for a week or two.)
