In preperation for the impending zombie apocalypse

Some of the people in this Livejournal thread are completely fucking nuts. Some of them wrote PARAGRAPHS on their zombie apocalypse survival plans. Good read, IMO. :pIt got me thinking that I'm completely screwed in a zombie apocalypse. I have no particular talents that would make me worth my weight in a zombie-survival team. Even my friends might leave me to die! I suppose my best chances are to nut the hell up and desensitize myself quick. Maybe I'll be one of the first crazy people who are able to rip a zombie limb from limb while the others stand and go "eww". (Of course, eventually everyone would be desensitized, but I could earn my place for a week or two.)
Just what I need! I'm bored as hell.
I wanna be like that guy from Zombieland. He's in the "ass kicking business and business is good". Haha..me neither. I can run for a long time (cross country training) but that's about it. I'd probably be rolling solo.

I would rather people necrobump this than continue to make the same thread 20-3999904965 times.
This way, discussion can ensue.
Htarreva:
-Big box store: Bad idea. It's a very common plan, but standard disaster preparation can cover food--meaning the only reason to stop is weapons (maybe a bag to put shit in). These stores have numerous entrances, are too large to clear with 2-5 people, and gather large amounts of people. With or without infection, places which could hide more than 15 people/zombies are bad news.
-Gun store: It WILL be empty. It's best to keep a reasonably small stock of your own. Proficiency is another issue, but many people don't even know how to use a club effectively, much less a weapon which needs to be AIMED. (On a side note, I dislike guns on principle. I prefer a more personal manner...Zombies are special cases.)
-Bunker: Do you actually know where the cold war era shelters are in your city? I fucking don't. Most plans include finding a shelter, and making it zombie-proof. Second stories are common choices. (DO NOT DESTROY THE STAIRS WHILE STILL STANDING ON THEM.) The inner city is my personal favourite, as many of the buildings can be opened using a pry-bar--but closed against unintelligent assailants. My personal favourite is a liquor store with a taxpayer apartment above. You can cut an entry in the floor/ceiling, use pre-installed security, and block the regular entrance to the apartment (destroy stairs, blockade door, etc.)
-Actual communicable disease: Covering all bases means not coming in contact with Zombies at all. If you do plan on surviving an apocalypse like that, you need a medical flightsuit, latex gloves, wraparound glasses (sunglasses or regular safety ones), and a face mask. This still will not ensure absolute safety (This BSI precaution set does not take the patient attacking you into account), but can prevent things until the power grid becomes too damaged to use. Further down the road, lack of infection will be luck, rather than skill/preperation.
