I can't really fault DA:O for not having an endgame when the warden has zero plot armor. But yeah, the hype might actually be real for this one. It's not tiny like Kirkwall Explorer and it's basically returning to the scope that made DA:O a lot more compelling.
Tactical combat still sucks dick though. This game is forever-consolized on that front, but everything else is making me moisten my seat.
Really? Tactical seems to be just like DAO, in fact they added features to it.
Even with all the new knobs and dingies, it still has to work with a controller, so moving the camera around in tactical isn't as fluid as it should be.

DAI's character creation isn't nearly has good as Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen.
Just needed to put that out there.
Also, after seeing the god awful mess that was AC Unity, I think I'll wait a while before getting for my DryStation 4.

If you're playing on console you don't need it and if you're playing on PC its better than it was in DAO. I guess what I'm saying is I don't understand the complaint, you want tactical to simply work for console when it's not really designed to/has never worked for console?

Most rpg's aren't open world, skyrim brought something new to the whole genre, so for you to say all of that makes me question whether you're a rpg fan, or at least how many of the classics you've played. Most stories and games end after the linear storyline is done.An RPG ending with no post-game just feels like wasted work to me.
In a game like Devil May Cry, you work on upgrades to slowly improve yourself, then play on higher difficulties with your upgrades. You can always go back and replay with all of your upgrades and weapons.
But in an RPG there's so much more work put into your character, stat placement, deciding which skills you want, planning ahead on skills to take in the future, gear micromanagement of yourself and your team, and in the end its just... gone.
It's like spending days building a big tower out of legos, then when you put the final piece on, it disappears, replaced by a little flag that says "u did it, gud job"
NOTE: I'm not trying to say my opinions are correct, or yours are wrong. This is just how I personally feel.

Tactical is designed for the controller in DA:I and you can access it with the controller now. In the process of making it work for controller, they made it counter-intuitive for PC.
I wouldn't be complaining about it if I haven't actually endured it. I can just overwhelm it with APM, but it's like playing DDR in moonboots.

As long as I can fuck dragons I'm good.
Though I am happy they brought back that Arcane Warrior/Knight Class back. Freaking invincible tank back in the Original.

You're playing the wrong genre bud, people dont play RPG's for re-playability, they do it for story, you want something with multilayer(not co-op) like infamy in Payday 2. There's almost no RPG's with post game.

I don't understand, you literally have a pause button to stop everything, how is it you have to power through with apm? Im getting the feeling like you're either under-utilizing it or only giving one set of commands and then leaving it up to the ai.
btw, if this sound like me looking down on you it's not, I realize other people play game differently than I do, I just don't believe this concern is valid as I have had no issues adapting to the "new" tactical, the only issue I have with the combat is the lack of healing.

Almost everything involving the camera in tactical is two step when it typically was one. Every time you select a character, it moves the camera back to that character instead* of staying static, forcing you to move the camera back to wherever the mobs are in the front line. In order to pan the camera back, you hold down shift/middle mouse/both mouse buttons + drag to go pan or use wasd-panning instead of just edge scrolling or clicking on the minimap. On top of all this, this game isn't top-down camera neutral with environments, so when the camera zips back to a character, sometimes the environment is blocking it and I'm forced to screw with the camera more than usual.
Pausing isn't a cure all because I actually enjoy the rhythm/reactionary portion of tanking. I have to constantly compromise a fluid full-party style specifically because the camera is that bad. It's not that I can't manage the tactical decisions (I'm trying to avoid the AI as much as possible by assuming direct control), but rather that these design limitations prevent this game from being played in a fluid manner without pausing.
You don't have to disclaim with me though. I'm having a discussion about mechanics that not everybody shares and that's fine. I'd rather have people somehow look at this wall of text and come to the conclusion that this game is worth going a little crazy over even with its flaws.
*Confirmed bug
Edit: But seriously, this game is fucking amazing. I only bitch about small things because I never want a reason to leave it.

I'm going to beat Origins and 3 Story Changing DLCs, and I'm going to buy and play DA2 and the one story changing DLC, and then I'm going to play Inquisition.
I'm nearing the end of second act for Dragon Age: Origins.

If you're talking about game, I probably won't have time to try it out. Barely have enough time to do my own things, now that I have 2 jobs and became president of the club I participate.

I can understand why we differ then, we have two very different styles of playing, over the length of a fight I will pause anywhere between 8 and 20 times depending on stages/boss fights. Classic bioware rgp's like baldurs gate, and knights of the republic were very much designed to be played slowly with as much battlefield control as possible, this new generation of rpg making thing more intense dont amuse me as much. I want a little more x-com and a little less mass effect(I did thoroughly enjoy both games). DAI have shown me a good mix of both styles, and the ability to choose how I play is something I will cherish.

Yeah, bethesda has really changed the rpg genre as a whole, and while we benefit from having all the dudebros play Skyrim(as it means more will be made) it means the publishers of traditional rgp's will start to alter the product we(not you I guess) know and love to sell more copies.

Will it be easy for me to catch along with Inquisitions if I haven't played the previous DA? I just finished putting 200 hours on Fallout 3 so I need a new game. It seems that some of you like Inquisitions, but i dont want to put the effort into playing the previous ones because it's gonna take me a long time to beat it.

While you can play DAI without having played the first two (go watch a youtube about the story so far) but you would be depriving yourself of how good DAO is, add a few mods(yeah, my second playthough had like 20 mods). That would be a shame, go play Dragon Age Origins and if the story isn't for you then you need not continue.
