That's... not quite how it works. When "alliances" are made both parties tend to get something out of it, for example Canadian free health care; the Conservative Party(aligned far right) was in power but had a minority government so to pass certain bills they had to get some support from the other parties. At the time the our Liberal Party(aligned slightly left) was the official opposition party but were vehemently opposed to the next bill the conservatives wanted to pass. The conservatives decided rather than wage a floor war that might cost political capital and waste time they decided to reach out to the other parties and what they got was unexpected; the NDP(aligned far left) agreed to vote with the conservatives if they amended the bill to add a new health care system, a free health care system. One of the better moments of our system and a slightly inspiration example of bipartisan agreement. Did the conservatives only agree to it knowing they could always repeal it later? who knows, but I do know the people supported the system so strongly that it was impossible to change. A multi party system is far superior to a two party system.

Then when I tried to do it online again, I was somehow able to do it. I don't get it.

We already have some of the most draconian yet ineffective gun laws. I can understand not wanting a non-licensed vendor not to sell a lot of it in bulk, but not making any restrictions to non-residents/out of state salers is stupid.

To be honest I have no idea who is running for local elections. Generally no matter who it is, if they're a politician from Hawaii, they're likely corrupt.
