The 2013 Worst Company In America Tournament
Which do you think should win?

Of course people would vote for EA because they're gamers; just like how it won last year. Voted Wal-Mart because they truly are a shitty, backstabbing company to its employees while having the employees display an over-friendly, creepy neighbor attitude towards the customers as well as each other. It annoys the fuck out of me.

[size=14]I don't have a problem with most of these companies, me not being American or a gamer, so I voted FedEx because those bastards took a year getting me one package that by the time a got it, it was pointless (a present for my mum, can't even remember exactly what, but her birthday had come and gone by the time I got it) so yeah... fuck FedEx.[/h]

Agreed.

Even capitalists laugh at capitalism.
Socialism ftw!
My vote for worst privately owned corporation goes to the federal reserve bank.

54% of the vote, hm? I'd say to give EA a chance since they have a new CEO, but they don't deserve that chance. I voted for them.

They're not really laughing at the concept of capitalism.

I voted for EA because I could not even log into my Origin account and play Battlefield 3 for 4 fucking months after I bought it. Their customer service dragged me around for ages and every time I had to wait for hours just to speak to a representative. They gave me a 20% discount code that didn't even work, when I tried to get a new one from another customer service rep they said they weren't allowed to give me a new one even though they had logs of my chat session with the previous representative. Now with all this shit I hear about Battlefield 4's marketing plan I just can't respect them as a publisher, not even a little.
+2 working for bioware, -1 for belonging to EA.
Bioware doesn't make good games anymore though.
Is that based on your opinion or statistics?
Also I had no idea Jacob was at Bioware, kick ass.
While they do decide how the game is priced, marketed and yes, do have sway over development, a publisher is still not a developer. If you want to blame someone for the SimCity fuck up blame Maxis, the company responsible for developing the game.

Wow, and I thought Nexon had shitty customer service, considering some of the tickets they have concerning some of their games seem to go months, (about a year, from what I've recently seen).

Something being bad is subjective, but if you want to go by "statistics"...Tell me how well SWTOR did. Or how well Bioware and other gaming mediums treated the Mass Effect 3 backlash. Also I don't know if the last Dragon Age game sold well, but I thought it was pretty bad.
We could blame EA for their decrease in quality, but I don't think they're 100% to blame. But as for the SimCity thing, EA wanted the always online DRM and denied people refunds. That is EA's fault, not the developers.

Well, I haven't played any of Bioware's games since the KOTOR series ended. According to EA, along with Kingdom's of Amalur and SSX, Mass Effect 3 was one of their most successful titles in 2012, raking in over $200 million in sales. It also sold 2 million units it's first week of release versus Mass Effect 2's 1.6 million. Dragon Age II however didn't do so well, selling more than 1 million units less than it's predecessor Dragon Age Origins within the first 10 weeks, as the graph below, taken from Escapist Magazine indicates.
Spoiler:
I don't think blaming EA is the right thing to do in that scenario, online DRM is a natural progression of anti-piracy features in games and the games EA publishes are just starting to catch up now. As an example Ubisoft has been pushing online DRM methods for quite some time, in fact the original PC release of Assassin's Creed required a form of validation every time you started up the game in order to play it, that was back in '07. The poor implementation of an online DRM method is solely the fault of the developers, their programming decides how well the DRM functions and how much of a nuisance it is to both pirates and people that actually bought the game. The other major SimCity fuck up was having a multi-player mode that well, didn't even work for most people.

I think you missed the point of the statement. I didn't say it did financial bad.

You also avoided my point. YOU BLAMED THE DEVS, even though it was EA's decision to implement these measures in the first place. Also EA should know by know the anti-piracy only hurts already existing consumers and turns away new customers because of such horrible decisions.
Piracy will always exist, and treating your costumers like shit will make people crack your game out of spite, even if they don't care about playing your game.

I didn't miss your point, it is entirely reasonable to believe that an increase in unit sales also means that people enjoyed the game more. My reasoning is further backed up by the fact that Dragon Age II did significantly worse than it's predecessor because simply put, it just wasn't as good a game and less people & critics recommended that it should be bought and gave it lower ratings. The opposite is true for Mass Effect 3. This shows that there is definitely a correlation between the financial success of a game and quality of game-play as viewed by the general masses.

I did not avoid your point, you stated that the fuck up was the fault of EA for wanting it implemented in the first place and I disagreed stating that it was the fault of the developers for their poor implementation. Edit 2: By the way, this wasn't the sole problem with SimCity, the other major problem was that the multi-player mode simply did not work for many people even if the DRM method worked successfully, this is clearly the fault of the developer. There are also other game play implementations that are receiving a lot of flak as well.

It's fairly clear none of them give a fuck about losing a few customers, so long as people continue trying to pirate their games they will continue to request that developers implement new and more advanced DRM methods. Just because there are always going to be some people that rob gas stations does that mean cameras shouldn't be put in place in order to deter them? Even though it may make some customers feel uncomfortable? Edit: There are better analogies I could have used and this one clearly wasn't the best, but it does make a valid point.
