-- There is an article about ZUN, but there is no explanation or even personal/general opinion about his artstyle nor any of his pictures used for the 3 provided articles. All of 'em are fanarts, and they're probably there only because they look good, except for some Tasogare's.

-- For something that claims to be providing a deep insight of said franchise, this 6-pages article fail in explaining some details. First is about official artworks and its influence in fanarts. Second is Reimu's inappropriate quote right at the beginning of the first article,

There are a lot more, but let's just go with those for now. It's gonna be a long essay if I continue.

There are also a lot of possible misleading / incomplete information in the article about games. For example : While it's true that th09 : Phantasmagoria of Flowering View has some similarities with Twinkle Star Sprites, it's actually also heavily based from its distant predecessor in PC-98 line, th03 : Phantasmagoria of Diminishing Dream. From the way they wrote it, it sounds like they are trying to say that PoFV is the first competitive Toho, which is not true. It's either that they don't know anything about PC-98 or they just don't want to mention it. But again, for something that offers a deep insight, the execution is poor.

It's good that they were trying to write a nice article without intimidating new players/readers with only 6 pages as their asset, plus point for ZUN's article as well, but those cannot justify their incomplete and misleading information. 5/10.

Ah, Jennikin told me about this yesterday and asked me to take a look at this. I've read the article, and from what I've read they have done two reviews of Touhou before this one, it's a shame I don't read the previous reviews. I'm kinda curious now to see those.

Back to this article, it is a nice read. It addresses some of frequently asked questions like 'what is touhou?', how popular touhou is?', and 'why is it so popular?'. It also features ZUN's bio, and brief reviews of the major games so far.
Too bad they left the spin-off games out and didn't put the game covers or any of ZUN's art in the article.

Overall, it's still a good and friendly article, especially to anyone new to Touhou. I hope they'll make another in the future with more complete and detailed reviews for each games.

there were 2 other? I think I remember seeing them on my friend's collection of GS and HG books(he subscribe to it since 2010). I forgot on what issue was it. lol

so it's like an introduction eh? "Seeing that rarely people read the articles and mostly only looking at new games that's going to be released(which is still a long wait), we don't have anything else to talk about so why not talk about touhou!" or something like that. lol

Yes expect for ZUN's article, which has quite a distinct depth in its content compared to the others. Correction on my previous post, they did mention 2 of PC-98 games, Highly Responsive to Prayers and Mystic Square, around the part where ZUN was still associated with Amusement Makers. But even after this correction, they still didn't mention PoDD, which is a major letdown in my opinion.

Like what Rin said, it's a good and friendly article overall; just it would be more pleasant if they tried to add more official decorations instead of fanworks. Save more space, possible to add more content. No incomplete/misleading information, better world.

PoFV sounds interesting but I'm going to be lacking on free time this week with stuff being due. I'm not exactly certain when you are talking about but I'm guessing "tomorrow my time" from when you wrote the post would be around 20 hours later or 3.5 hours from this post. Depending on how this afternoon/evening goes will determine whether I'm around on Hamachi.

As far as I know, there is nothing such as digital version of said article. It's not like they want to risk their profit by publishing their so-called special article via internet, right. Here is the cover of said Gamestation (203) and its contents, see if it's the same thing as you saw out there.
