Where do I put my Synchro cards?
This is pretty plain compared to the one's I've seen. Customs mats are either really lame or really creepy.

Making playmats is not easy, and Kaoru isn't very dynamic so a more plain look was the goal. It looks more gentle.
Edit: You can put your extra deck wherever you want.

The guy had a creepy obsession with Dark Magician girl, and his mat made it quite apparant. His was probably the worse, and I've seen a few try taking theirs to small tournaments where kids are present.(well it is a children's card game)

Oh I see....That's quite something.
Offhanded question, but I haven't really caught up on Yu-gi-oh as a card game in a long time, and I also never really played it even though I did have cards a while back. What is all this Synchro-summon nonsense I see all the time.

I have plenty of playmats for MtG, and I don't think it looks bad at all. As from a personal stand-point, I like the designs to be simple, just like that one.
To me, when you are playing, you don't want your mat to be too fancy, it'll take away from what you are actually playing and all you'll really see is pretty much a jumbled mess on top of jumbled mess.
Here's just 2 of my personal mats that I play on, on a constant basis :

Yay you get what I'm saying! :D I get what you mean Cruz, I see those mats whenever I go to regionals and some of those guys are just plain assholes, one even hit a kid before. I told him to fuck off but he ended up getting kicked out.

I remember when I played Yu-Gi-Oh a million and a half years ago, back when an attack power of 1800 made for a pretty good card. We didn't have fancy play mats--no no--we were renegades. We had rule sets where every time your life points were attacked, you took a revolver with a single bullet in it, spun the cylinder, and squeezed the trigger while pointing it at your head.
But seriously; the mat looks pretty nice. It fits the character fairly well, and I agree with Saka-saka that simpler can be better. I don't have one, myself; the game isn't really popular around my area anymore (though I still have my cards), and I don't really get into other TCGs these days due to lack of time, money, and nobody to really play with.
I was thinking you could try making one for Kanbaru, but...

I could have gotten 3 Egyptian god play mats when I had the chance... but said no. Obelisk, Slifer, and Ra.... I was offered by a friend, of course. I regret now D:

There's a local guy that makes customs for us here, though they don't really come cheap. Quality's not bad though.
Anyway I use a Slifer mat leeched off from Battle Pack 2: War of the giants Battle Kit. Half the size of a custom.

I am surprised by the amount of Yugioh people here! :O
edit: Thanks for replying to the thread people but at least let me know your opinion on the mat. =/

Messy-haired girl is best girl. To be honest I lost interest in the anime after her route.
In other words, your placemat has my approval. And I don't even play Yu-Gi-Oh. To be honest I'm surprised it's still a thing.

Never had a play mat. Never felt the need for one.

I played when I was little. I liked them more than pokemon cards cause they weren't as cutesy for little kids. I remember pulling a blue eyes white dragon from a booster pack and my brothers being so jealous. I never had any fancy mats I usually just used the cheap paper ones or none at all. But I distinctly remember seeing the yugioh movie in theaters, and having a pyramid necklace like yugi. Man, good times.

A Syncro-Summon is just an extremely shitty replacement for Fusion cards. The way new decks are made make them retardedly OP.
