[Locked] FAKKU Subscription Questions

So I just got onto Fakku and I saw a BUNCH of subscription tags. Is this going to be a spasmodic thing or will it occur often?

Because, as a free user/pirate/wateveryouwanttocallme, I'm kind of worried.

it somehow charged me twice, but it also says on my profile that it wont renew until november, so maybe i got two months credit which is ok I guess.

Also, I am wondering, is it possible to have the description of payment changed so it doesnt show up as 'fakku' on my bank account?

Well, you shouldn't be, since there are plenty of other options out there.

But as far as Fakku goes, all unlicensed content (read: all the free stuff) is getting purged. For the near future, the only free stuff may be rotating book and magazine sample chapters.

At first, congratulation to this huge step! The webside is taking a good way.

Spoiler:

My question: What's gonna happen to the Uploaders after all of the unlicensed content gets removed?

Anyone who has uploaded content to the site over the past few years (yourself included) will be getting complimentary subscriptions on me. It will probably happen sometime next week once things have calmed down.

Alright, take your time and don't stress yourself. Thanks for the fast answer!

Well, that's a shame. I hope at least some form of free content remains in the future. Maybe in the future I'll subscribe to this, but as for now, I'll just hang around until this site goes full crunchyroll.

Got an error when making my payment, backed out and tried again, checked card and was double charged. Any chance of getting that extra charge back?

I realize that in the future FAKKU will essentially go subscription only so this may change in the near future but just a few comments. As it stands right now UX of signing up is terrible. I had to login to my account, scroll through a wall of text and click two subscribe buttons just to find out how much the subscription costs in the first place. Just figured I'd point out that you're hurting your conversion rate by doing so. While the explanation letter is nice, get to the point first and put the wall of text underneath it.

Also if you have the means, consider a "tier" plan offering a slightly cheaper per month plan for those who sign up for 6 months/1 year, etc. up front as well. These tend to work wonders for many subscription based services

You've seemed to have put in a lot of hard work to make this subscription service worthwhile so it's definitely worth making sure it's as smooth and streamlined for the customer as possible. Just my two cents as I want to see you succeed and wish you success with your endeavor.

Can the licenses of the subscription chapters expire or will they be stored indefinately @ FAKKU?

Is there a timeline as to when you at least hope to get the other two publishers? How about older content? If all free content gets deleted Fakku would be faily empty for a while, I imagine(as compared to before). Also, are you planning on making all this current and future content available all the time, or are you gonna be taking out some chapters(say the not-so-popular ones) to make room for newer ones? If so what if we wanted to view it again and its not available anymore(the one thing I hate about netflix)? If you could answer these I'd appreciate it.

There is currently no timeline, but I would expect us to make some big moves early next year. That said we still have some really huge projects to announce before the end of this year, arguably just as big as subscriptions. And we will not remove any content from the service if it's unpopular.

Can we subscribe to a particular artist or artists? That way we can be informed of uploads of new things which would cater to individual tastes. For example i'd sign-on but would want only Napata or Homunuculus as the the ones i have access to/informed of but don't want other stuff like those artists typically known for forced, ntr. Just asking.

Yes! And you can already do this. If you go to the artists page (or tag page), there is a link on the top right to subscribe. Once subscribed you will receive a notification anytime more of that content is uploaded.

If we ordered a subscription, how do we cancel our subscription after lets say for a month? (Just in case I am not satisfied with it, but at the moment I am satisfied)

You can cancel the renewal of your subscription at anytime in your account settings, specifically "My Account" -> "Settings" -> "FAKKU Gold" at the bottom of the page. If you do cancel the renewal, you will still be able to access all of the content for the remainder of the month you paid for.

Sweet, this is finally happening! Would love to subscribe now, but I'd prefer to use Paypal for this kind of thing. Until then, I'll just satisfy myself with the books. Amazing work, Fakku!

After reading through all the posts on this thread, this is the information I have gathered and the conclusion that I've come to:

Fakku is going Crunchyroll. The services are, according to people, too expensive (I don't really care because I'm not going to be subscribing in at least 2-3 years). All free content will be removed and will be replaced with a subscription paywall. Many people are upset either because they're under age and can't pay, find it too expensive and can't pay, find it too expensive and don't want to pay, are only here for the free shiz. There is a possibility that free content will comeback, albeit in a very controlled fashion.

Pros:

-No more censorship
-Frequent releases
-High quality books
-Up-to-date with Japan's magazine schedule
-High amounts of releases
-Customization

Cons:

-You have to pay
-No more Doujinshi
-Much of the community has left due to this (I'll be periodically checking)
-No more free shiz
-You have to pay

While the pros do technically out-weigh the cons in this case, due to certain reasons, I will not be able to participate in this paywall. I will still occasionally come onto the website to see what's up. Hopefully by 2016, when all the free shiz has been deleted, Jacob will have come up with a way to give us free users some free shiz. Until then, this platform has disappeared, so I'll have to find another platform (with a forum, so nhentai is out of the picture) to which I can use.

So, until I can pay or get free shiz, I'll probably be...doing stuff.

P.S.
Jacob, can you add a "read later" function for us free users? In case I (we) come back, I'd like to catch up on all the stuff I couldn't read like the "getting NTR'd" manga that I heard (according to the comments) is "a love story" and "is good" (doubt it but curiosity be damned).

P.P.S Edit:

Will content on the month you paid for still be available after your subscription has ended?

I'd like option to buy for a month without automatic renewal.

If you subscribe you can cancel the renewal at anytime, and you will retain full access throughout the month you paid for.

This will be normal going forward, though there will still be scanlations uploaded until the end of the year.

We just pushed a fix where it was submitting the payment form twice if you clicked the button multiple times, this shouldn't happen anymore. And yes the second payment will just add another month to your subscription.

We can't change the name of the company, it will show as "FAKKU, LLC" on your statement.

So might be unrelated but is there ever any loli content in these releases?
In the podcast with ANN you said Loli content was possible, so is there any gonna be any in these magazines or if not, any new development of future Fakku Loli books (the actual books not the magazines)?

Well wait now I am confused. The regular Fakku Books will still continue, right?

Also I am sure that has been answered already forgive me, but how much content is there available right now already, if I subscribe right away?

Excited for the launch of this, congratulations. There's going to be an adjustment period to be certain and I cannot imagine the complexities you've faced as a result of this. I will be subscribing once there is a Paypal option, I have mine set up so that anything that happens there stays off my primary statements, plus if it's compromised there's a firm limit on the damage that could happen.

First off, glad to hear you play SWTOR! I used to work at BioWare on SWTOR specifically, really fond memories.

I cannot leave this alone, I don't know what your role in it was or the level of involvement, but as part of the team, thank you. Have been playing since the beta and my guild still has a blast with it. It has it's shortcomings, but what game doesn't?

We will not shy away from any content we publish, you can expect all genres to be covered with the subscription. And the regular FAKKU books will indeed still continue. Subscription service is for magazine simul-publishes.

If you subscribe right now, you'll have access to around 28~32 chapters. With more on the way :)

Mentioned this here, we pushed out a fix for this about an hour ago. I'll get the extra payment refunded and shoot you an email.

You absolutely right, improving the sign up flow is the single most important thing we can do. Getting people to subscribe is important, so any suggestions I will take to heart. Right now we are purposely keeping it barebones to see what does and doesn't work, so your feedback is valuable.
