Japanese manga focuses more on the intimate details of a persons life, and how it effects them as a whole.

ps: I can't really point out where the two 'genres' diverge, as I'm not a fan of american comics, and the ones I really know about are marvel ones. So yeah.

I like japanese manga but i love american comics too. preferred american superheroes because much more realistic than manga.
American is a mature or that the art is like a much more highlighted. and the story too and some times the story is too long.. " i collect superman comics it's just i got bunch of comic i think it all most volume of 200 comic i collect.
For Japanese art is like cartooned " cannot explained. " they have a story quite good too. yeah sometimes daily live. fantasy.etc
Do you recognize the difference?

As mazda pointed the differences in their art styles, I won't say much. I personally prefer Japanese or Asian manga over US comics. I find it almost hilarious when US comics try to incorporate the Asian style of manga into a US comic because that kind of hybrid usually doesn't tend to compare well in my standards to that of standard Asian manga.

Chris Hart...) but take into account these are styles they are not accustomed to drawing. It would be just as weird if a mangaka suddenly tried to draw realistic American comics style. (there is no excuse for Chris Hart though, since he draws tutorial books for manga styles and claims to be the master of such =_=)
That said, I've grown up on manga all my life but recently got into American comics thanks to the Watchmen movie. It made me want to read the graphic novel before watching the movie, and it was just so goddamn good that I began seeking out other DC titles, mostly Batman stuff and Vertigo titles like Transmetropolitan.
It literally opened a whole new world to me because before I just thought of American comics as "too many words, I'd rather read a novel", but now I'm more enamored with them than I am with manga. I can't say exactly why, but the different ways that different writers and artists interpret a character is something most manga never see (disregarding fanmade items like doujinshi).
Case in point, one of my favorite artists is Skottie Young, and his art is by far not your run of the mill superhero comic style.
Spoiler:
But there are also artists like Adam Hughes, whose style is more reminiscent of art nouveau:
Spoiler:
And the more fan favorite Jim Lee, who exemplifies the traditional superhero comic style:
Spoiler:
Idk I just think that any medium of art which can incorporate such a wide variety of artistic talent and styles is admirable, and that's why I'm more fascinated by American comics than manga nowadays. Although I still do enjoy manga, and know that manga has tons of different styles as well, most of the stuff in the mainstream market remains stagnantly one similar style.

Oh god, reading the first post was liking being dragged face first through 2 miles of stupid juice. Gahhh.
Anyway, Japanese manga are better because I want to be Nihonjin and eat sushi with ore no nakama.

American comics is good for having such a mind boggling universe, and you can take a characters story in pretty much any direction, and tell it in any other way. There's no amount of constraints and the time frame of events rarely matter.
It's something that can't really be done with Manga, but I feel the story from the Comics can sometimes suffer because of this. Since manga tends to stay to the story, the only times you'll find the story being told differently is in anime.
They both have something the other doesn't, whilst I do still love comics, I do love my manga more, I mean does Spider man offer us this?..

Besides art style, there are cost, creation, audience, genres, presentation and even size differences.
Comics usually have a writer, a penciler, inker, letterer, and colorist. Manga usually only have a single creator and a colorist.
Manga usually has fewer dialogue and panels.

American comics are deep.
Japanese Manga are deeper.
American comics are mostly based on heroes.
Japanese manga are mostly based in school life. (I may be wrong)
American comics nowadays are dark. (It's becoming a trend)
Japanese Manga don't follow trends, they make them.
Comics = Win
Manga = Winn (It's better so I added another n)

Shia's comics are American, but at the same time is the only good American comic I like.
So I'm going with Japanese.

the only thing I can realize is
American comics are somewhat "stiff and stagnant" in the story telling
and the Manga is more fluid.

I disagree, especially when manga's go off on filler chapters/arcs.
