American Comics Vs. Japanesse Manga
Whats better:

I have to vote american comics. I just see no competition with reading an awesome story about superheroes. As I've heard a number iof occasions, they are the mythologies of ancient times retold, and I gotta say that may be the reason I like them way more than manga. But, truth be told, I don't read either. Not since Spawn lost its cool.

I dont prefer either nor do i think one is better than the other although in recent years i been leaning to American comics.
I like American comics because its fleshed out better and there is at least a diversity and the different storylines that may come with the hero(like the civil war, darkest night, zombies etc)
Most manga caters to the mainstream now which either goes shonen standard hero fights bad guys and is on a difficult journey, genre manga like mecha, etc, fan-service manga or the rare good manga's that dont get translated and not alot of people know about(Kaiji for one)
I just hope manga gets better in time

The most apparent difference between Japanese and American comics has to do with color. Most chapters of manga come out every week and are black-and-white. Most American comics come out every month and are full-color. There is usually only a 5-page difference (if even that) between the two, but it's clear that American comics could not come out weekly because a lot more work goes into them. As Tsujoi said, American comics have a lot more people working on them.
Another difference is that American comics tend to stand alone; you buy an issue of Spider-Man, and an issue of Captain America is a separate purchase. Manga sells as a group; you buy a large magazine with a lot of different series. I think that's the reason the third difference exists - manga series are self-contained universes, while American comics usually exist in the same universe (those under the same company, that is).
With manga, if you're buying the new releases, you don't buy just Naruto or Bleach, you buy them and everything else in Shonen Jump, so the chances of you liking one series and then reading and liking another are very high. With American comics, if you read nothing but Spider-Man, you may never check out the other series Marvel has. Unless some big event happens that involves all the other series. Suddenly, if you want to know the full story behind the Skrull invasion, you have to pick up not only Spider-Man but also X-Men and Fantastic Four and Captain America and so on.
As for which is better, that's largely a matter of opinion, with each side saying some truthful things about the other. A lot of manga is similar and predictable; a lot of American comics are stiff and too serious for their own good. But a person may like either of those things. It doesn't make one inherently better or worse than the other; it's all tastes.
Personally, I prefer manga because stuff actually ends. Sure, Naruto's been going for over 10 years, and it'll probably last at least 3 more years, but there are a ton of series that have already ended and are very enjoyable. It's hard to find a lot of good American comic series that are finished. Maybe in 10 years things will be different, since the American comic industry has changed quite a bit, but right now, manga suits my desires more.

must agree that i love this Manga^
but back on topic:
I choose Manga over Comics because:
-Manga tends to go in more direction than i have seen comics(mostly hero stuff)!
-Easier FOR ME to tell the artist works apart from others!
but i still like Comics, i just prefer manga over it.

I prefer American comic book, they are more detail artwise and I believe the stories are better. I enjoy reading manga too, but I feel more people like manga here because its japanese and do not give american comic books a chance just for the soul fact that they are american...typical fanboys.

I demand that Japanese be spelled right dammit! Overall, Japanese comicsare probably better because they are more storylike. When you say American comics, do you mean things like Calvin and Hobbes, or something like Superman or marvel comics? Either way, Japanese manga have better artwork, better development and tends to be more interesting either way. At least in my opinion.

American comics always bothered me by how each one was stand alone.
It was okay when I was little but not now.. I pretty much just don't care anymore and moved onto mangas.
I say man, I actually get my blood pumping on what'll happen in the next chapter unlike on what I has read from normal american comics.
I'd read american comics if they wasn't stand alone anymore. And there is several that isn't stand alone.

Events aren't stand alone.

American comics are deep.Japanese Manga are deeper.
American comics are mostly based on heroes.
Japanese manga are mostly based in school life. (I may be wrong)
American comics nowadays are dark. (It's becoming a trend)
Japanese Manga don't follow trends, they make them.
Comics = Win
Manga = Winn (It's better so I added another n)

If only ALL published Japanese manga's are colored like the US comics.
But pretty much I both like them, the problem is that I stick to the popular US comics who are commonly known like Marvel and DC and RARELY look at new US comic book heroes, other media and stories. Unlike in manga every new manga that comes out Iam interested to see it weather it's a slice of life, horror, comedy or action packed. So I voted for Japanese Manga's which I personally have more interest.
Also what can you say about Korean manga's? Veritas is also a good read btw if you like school, martial arts action.

Japanese and American comics are very, very different, and people have different tastes. Just as some people have valid reasons for disliking manga, some people who dislike American comics have valid reasons as well. For example, if you don't want to read about superheroes, you probably won't want to read American comics, as at least 70% of all American comics are about the tight-wearing defenders of justice (and a lot of that 30% is unknown amongst a lot of people).

Actually, MOST comics are not stand alone. Their may be a popular particular comic that is singled out because it held a significant plot point in a series, but almost every popular comic contains continuity.

Am I the only one who thinks the results are all biased since we are all on a hentai forum. I'm just saying...
