Are you attracted to intelligence?

I am very very attracted to intelligence and wit. These same traits have also landed me in some terrible relationships with fascinating, thrilling, morally and emotionally ambiguous men. Funny how that goes.

In general, I am, yes. I always love to have intelligent conversations with people; I don't like it, however, when the conversation is something above my knowledge, since I won't understand it, thus making a lecture rather than a conversation. Haha~ As long as neither of us feels ignorant of a topic that the other excels at, I'll be happy. (Unless said topic is that person's profession, or something along those lines).

Mm.. But really, if I love her, it wouldn't matter too much, I guess.

YES. I'm with someone who's smarter than me and I'm actually *cough*really smart*cough*. Maybe that's one reason why I've never been attracted to anyone but him. He was always number one when we were in high school and I was just second. We would always study together and make out after. I'm a bookworm and he is too. He's the only one willing to go with me when I need to go to a library or a book shop. I love his intelligence and how he shows it off~ ❤

However, while both men and women say this, one isn't going to usually first fall for someone over intellect unless they know them well.
Looks do also factor into initial interest, sadly.

My colleague and I were having a related conversation just the other day.

Imagine a scenario whereby your partner is an extremely good-looking individual, but when it comes to dicussions, all s/he can say is "Yes" or "No" without elaborating further. Perhaps I am exaggerating, but life would then be boring, maybe with the exception of moments where we admire the beauty of our partner.

I'm a sucker for an intelligent girl, but oddly enough, I'm also rather shallow. However, I don't believe true beauty can exist in the absence of a beautiful mind.

I've been in relationships at both ends of the spectrum. I dated my high school's future valedictorian throughout our sophomore and junior years, but I also ended up with some of the most doltish women I've ever met. I can say, however, that most of the "good" relationships that I've been in have been with bright women. Being able to hold a conversation with your partner is one of the most important aspects of a relationship. To me, it seems that whenever I'm with an inarticulate hot girl, all of our conversations are just awkward pre-sex chit chat. But when I can have an elaborate conversation with an enlightened woman, I purely enjoy being around her... Sex or not.

I have also come to believe that beauty and intellect come hand in hand. A girl who would normally be a 6-7/10 and presents herself flawlessly is much more beautiful than a girl whose an 8-9/10 but looks like trash.

Oh yes! I can't stand it when dumb people are talking, no almost screaming, their stupid comments right next to me. I guess they really think talking loud makes you appear smarter -_-
