Dakimakuras anyone?

Moving into a single bedroom apartment in a few weeks is likely to result in more dakis... time to start browsing.

I'm going to a convention next week-end and I'm sure to see some dakimakura on sale.
(I'm pretty aware that some are bootlegs, but depending on my funds I might not be buying any cover this year anyway)

At English conventions, pretty much all the dakimakura covers will be bootlegs.

There have been a few exceptions in the past, like Compile Heart I think, and Fakku is apparently going to have some this year. But basically, if it's <$100, as most convention covers will likely be, it's probably a bootleg.

I wonder if you know where you can get the seishin daki at this point? I'm only making assumptions because you're using her daki as your profile picture.

I do not have the money, but i do sometime think of how great it would to have them. Should I get one when I get my own place?

i started collecting them while i was still living with my folks lol moved out soon after. to answer your question, hell yes. worth the money if you're willing to spend it. has improved the quality of my sleep.

You parents must have been great, I would probably get in so much trouble since my grandmother is very controlling and always wants to be in charge. She would probably kill me if it was legal XD

well.. they weren't aware of my secret hobby lol believe me if they was, i wouldn't be alive either =P i did a good job of hiding it. i live alone now so my shit is out in the open, when my friends come over it's a different story >.>

Sorry to barge in, but it's interesting to see other people's take on this hobby. I certainly don't live alone; and my mom knows about it. My mom is a little...well, she just thinks it's weird I'd spend "so much money" on a pillow case. She's seen one of mine that I happened to have on a pillow, which was completely clothed on one side. I doubt she knows I collect very indecent or explicit ones, though. Maybe? I don't go through the trouble of hiding it since I'm given my privacy anyway.
My mom is probably one of the more accepting people in my family. My brother doesn't care. My father also feels the same. And...it's not something I'd go around telling people, family or friend.

I've only been collecting for a year now, but it's fun. I just wish I had more funds to buy more.

Yeah but my family doesn't know what privacy is, they just open the door when ever and I hate it. The side of my family I live with is super religious, so they are not accepting to things

Just an update for anyone who might be interested, AcHobby's commission rate they gave me was around $800 USD, and if I want to keep the cover artwork for myself it'd be an additional amount later on. I'd post this on reddit but I haven't gotten around to unlurking there yet. (Too lazy to make an account?)

Heh, maybe when I get my next shipment of goodies or an update on my commission. It's been a slow period, at least for me, the last month or so, as nothing has really caught my eye with the exception of the latest Carnelian cover.

I don't use SMJ anymore at the moment, so my days of the huge 10+ loot posts are probably dead. But it has been relatively slow for me the last few months, since I was still recovering from my trip to Japan. Though I just went a bit crazy the last week, and got 3 covers from Mandarake, 3 covers from Evening Call, and the 2 Takumi Makura covers that shipped recently. I've just been too lazy to bust out my good camera and take some decent pictures of everything. Hell, I still haven't opened any of the EC/Mandarake covers, and still have a CranCrown cover from last month that I haven't opened.

I have a backlog of at least ten or so covers I haven't opened at all as well, let alone take any decent pictures. Hopefully, with Comiket around the corner, I can get things rolling again.

i consider myself to be pretty savvy @ this hobby. i keep up with updates from "the" blog and shit.. but it seems like things have been pretty slow lately. i'm waiting for my NoReal lady venera cover which arrives next month along with some other loot. this comiket not like the last with covers or what? am i missing something?

Nah, there were a good number of covers. I just don't think Anko/Marks attended. The blog was pretty slow to update this time around, so it wasn't really the best place to be keeping up with stuff as it was being announced. For me, it's a mix of Twitter, the blog, Nijigenshingu, and Pixiv to stay updated on releases, and even then I'll see something pop up on Mandarake that I haven't seen before.
