Death by Fire or Water
Which would you rather die by?

So many people have heard of the saying of "Death by fire or death by drowning" or some variation of it. Usually used in a lose-lose situation. Anyway, I wondered which one would actually be worse and which one people would choose.
Death by drowning would be an emotional struggle as you try and try to breathe air or reach the surface yet you can't make it and slowly your life dims before your eyes. A very hopeless death indeed.
Death by fire would be a frantic frenzy for help. Running and rolling around trying to put out the inextinguishable flames and feeling and smelling your own flesh burn into a crispy charcoal texture. A very painful death it is.
Personally, I'd go by drowning since it seems more natural to me. Plus I wouldn't have to bother the coroner with identifying who I am. So question is:
Would you die by fire or by drowning ?
Discuss away.

What happens if I refuse both? Do I get shot? If so, I chose that!
If I really do end up in such a dilema, I'd have to go with drowning. Sure, it's a painful and cold struggle to the surface but, the way I see it, it's a much less painful and gruesome way to go. I mean, christ, the fire is slowling eating away at my flesh and sanitny and there's nothing I can do but wait for the sweet escape of death! Also, I prefer people to not find my body as a disgusting burnt corpse. How morbid!

I depends on how hot the fire is. Like, if you were to just throw me into the sun and I denigrated then that would be cool. But, whenever I catch one of my people on The Sims on fire whenever they try to make pancakes for the first time, man that looks like a painful way to go. So I'll go with drowning in that case - an epic drowning where we all share our deepest and darkest secrets with each other as a secret underwater lab slowly fills with water miles beneath the ocean.
This thread title reminded me of this poem btw:
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice

Fire, specifically Napalm. Or by being shot with incendiary bullets. The horror...the horror!

so...
FIRE
- immolation (lulz definition: the fire just loves to touch you down to your very bones)
WATER
-drowning
-hypothermia
either way, you'll still suffer

I would say fire would be more painfully. Death by water is also bad, but I rather choose water then fire.

None. Either of the two would be a painful way to die. This is very true, neither, However if I had to choose it'd be fire as long as it was like lava or the sun or something, as instant as possible.

Getting a lot of drowning responses since people think it's more painless but here's an IF situation: What if you're drowning in the Antarctic ocean with water so cold and freezing it feels as if you were on fire. Not so painless in that situation. Plus being a person who has half-drowned before, I can say that struggling to reach the surface and breathing in the water really does hurt a lot on your lungs and such.
Now I'm not trying to discredit the pain of dying by fire but either way you're screwed.

That's Fire and Ice by Robert Frost. I remember reading that in middle school. Good poem too.

drowning isn't the most horrible thing in the world. you tend loose consciousness pretty quickly after your lungs fill up.
Burns hurt and, unless you pass out from the pain, you'll be sticking around for most of the ride.
So i went for the wetter ending.
I'm a swimmer though so me and water get along pretty well.

Give me fire everyday of the week over water. Drowning is such a helpless death. With fire, rather ironically, you feel so alive before you die. It must be a great rush.

May I just note at how hilarious the voting options are. Death by Drowning, okay I get that, but Death by Fire just sounds so hilarious when compared to the other option. Not Death by Burning or Death by Smoke Inhalation...but Death by Fire...epic.

Drowning. From what I hear, it's a better way to go. At least that's what the voices in my head say O.o
