They make simple mistakes like "your" and you're" on a regular basis, as if they don't know the difference?
I've been speaking with someone for a bit now and that person has been using your for everything, as if they didn't know there was a difference. I feel slightly saddened that someone who graduated from the same education system as myself doesn't know the difference. How about when someone types "u" instead of you, or when they think "a lot" is one word? How about you Fakku, does the way someone writes affect your opinion of them?

It shouldn't. As a matter of fact, I've only just learned to utilize proper grammar myself a couple of years back. I was just as smart as anyone else, my posts didn't lack intelligence, I could converse at an acceptable level, my spelling was impeccable...
But I couldn't use proper grammar worth shit.
...
But yes, it does.

Yup... I've encountered some of these guys quite often. I think less of them not by saying "you're stupid"... I'd prefer the word "Lazy". But to those who don't understand the difference of your and you're, are pretty much stupid... and lazy... yeah, theyr- they're stupid...

I dont think any less of them, I do it all the time, im just too lazy to punctuate, Although I still know the difference between the two

Things like mixing up your and you're don't really bother me but using u instead of you gets on my nerves. A person's grammar and spelling have to be fairly bad and obvious for it to make me have a lower opinion of them though.

I don't usually let it bother me that much. I'm not very grammatically inclined either. I make a lot of mistakes, and I'm often too lazy to proof read before I post a comment. The only thing that bothers me are people who don't even try.
like it hard to use prooper englis lol
I know it sounds egotistical, but this is an English site, and I'm sure everyone who is on this site has either studied English heavily in school, or it is their first language. There is just no excuse for being lazy.
I mean hell, Spanish isn't my first language, nor am I fluent in it. but I've studied it long enough that I at least have generally acceptable grammar.

I'm in the same boat as Vowels[I'd totally like to be in Vowels "boat". ;D], people that use 'u' instead of actually spelling the word "you" sadden me while people that don't capitalize the letters where they need to be capitalized annoy me to some extent...
BY THE WAY, WAAR. I HAVE NOTICED THAT LATELY YOU HAVE BEGUN TO USE CAPITAL LETTERS AND SHIT IN YOUR POSTS. WUT A GUD.

Not knowing english well enough is a partial excuse, but there is absolutely no excuse for "U".

I think forms of "there" bother me more than anything else, but yes - I do often have a question in the back of my mind wondering if they know the difference between the forms.
Posts in forums, and emails I always try to use proper grammar - however I'm not perfect ;p
But for instant messages and on irc I've never really cared enough to capitalize everything, but that's about the only difference.

Nope I'm used to people shortening their words or misspelling them just as long as its readable and as long as they dont go crazy like: "g3wD mUaRn1n9 gUyZs" and stuff.

But one thing that grinds my gears is tildas. Tildas are not periods.

If I can understand what said person is trying to write, then I could care less about the grammar. Our English language is so jacked up with so many words that are the same, sound the same but when you spell it out, means different shit.
See
Sea
Sell
Sale
Sail
No
Know
Night
Knight
etc.... Just so many words that are similar when said, but the context of how you say it changes what it is.

Joking aside, as long as it makes sense, then I can live with those mistakes. Now if you talk about jejemons (people who embellish words too much)--that's a different story altogether.

Depends on who it is. Assuming English isn't your first language, and you mess up a bunch, that's fine. Even if it is your first language, but still there are limits. Poor grammar? Fine. Crappy spelling, sure why not? Using single letters in place of words? Go kill yourself.
