I like the idea of Europe. Never having been there I can't exactly have a good opinion, but I really want to go there at some point in my life (I live in the USA).
When I think of Europ the first things that come to mind are the French language and renaissance art/architecture. Reasons being that I tookf three years of French in high school and I am always amazed and intriguied about the various things that the renaissance period produced.
As for culture, I would say that I would be most interested in German culture. I'm interested because I would really like to see how thier history texts treat the world wars and the recoveries/occupation that resulted after each. But that really only deals with recent history...

[font=Verdana][color=green]Living in the UK, my opinions of the EU are fairly negative. However, as a continent, I like it. It has such a wide range of cultures, languages and customs within such a small area.
Of course, seeing as this is the main battle ground for the World Wars, that will be forever etched into the history of Europe.

I live in Europe but I feel more like a Dutch person than like a European person. Most people I know don't care about the continent. We go to the other countries on a vacation, but that's it. It's as much as the rest of the world as America or Africa is.
First thing that comes to mind when I hear the word 'Europe' is 'union' I guess. The countries are united after all.
And I like the Italian architecture. It's also a really nice country with a rich history and sexy people.

Of course, this sentence applies further for me; I see myself as English rather than British.
I'm just glad I have the Channel to separate us from Mainland Europe. Thank god.

Too many foreigners in it stealing our jobs.Agreed.
And to your questions: I live in England. It's pretty bad, especially now we have a moronic prime minister in charge - david cameron. He has no idea what he's doing. He is for the rich. Fucking conservatives.

^You just reminded me that I forgot to add how shit our economy is.
Asides that, I enjoy living in it as a place.

[font=Verdana][color=green]Not Ireland, I'm afraid. The IRA might have something to say about that.

they are, regardless of their wishes. The IRA and Northern Ireland have had a truce for a while now. The violence has been on a downward trend for years, it's not quite the incident that it once was.
edit: Shag, sorry I didn't clarify, English are those from England, Great Britain on the other hand is made up of all those countries, including England. So everyone from England is British but people from Ireland/Scotland aren't English. Get it?
