Ipad - Why Such a Big Deal?

There is a backgrounder app? On Cydia?also, I know it's imperfect, but it's a start. Also, I can't think of many instances on the ipod/phone/pad where you will actually need to multitask where you need both apps running at the same time.

Texting + games, texting + internet, video recording + internet, and such, maybe, I DON'T KNOW BRO.
Thanks though, appreciate it.

I didn't think I would have time to come on today since I'm too busy posting on MacRumors, and being excited in anticipation of my preordered 32GB iPad. Luckily I did. Looking through this thread, I think I'm the only person on here (unsurprisingly) who can actually see what the iPad as the revolution it truly is.
I don't think this community is mature enough for a civil conversation regarding Apple products, so anyone who want to have a proper explanation, PM me, or find me on MSN/AIM/Skype.
And Shaggy, I already PM'd you. :)
I don't recall ever losing my temper before on this forums.
Hahaha, have you ever seen me "rage"? Don't worry - being an Apple user for all these years have made me quite flame-proof.

I've always laughed at all the shit Apple puts out. This one just made me laugh a little bit harder. Oversized iTouch describes this pretty well. I don't understand how it's a "revolution." It's the exact same thing as an iTouch, but just bigger.

good or bad publicity it is still publicity, and all this hype around the ipad would probably just generate more sales since people are curious and also want the latest things available.
I mean at the end of the day its just another product, sure it might just be a size up from the itouch but it could be what people with simple web browsing needs around the house requires, and provides a bigger screen without the need of having to carry a laptop around.

But you can show it off at your business meetings and access a wide variety of whoever you haves 3G networking!
Its pretty much a little mac, meant for businessmen on the go.

Both taking me too seriously. :P I just knew that this would develop more into a 'why I hate Apple' thread, in the exact same way that every other one has.
It's a good piece of kit all told, and I've no doubt that it will do well, but like I say, it's more the recent imperviousness of Apple that has everyone excited. They've made an unpopular device of questionable worth into a sleek accessory; the fact that they seem to have turned the fortunes of the tablet PC, are investing a lot more in it than the cautious efforts of Microsoft etc, has people excited more for the promise of the medium than the device itself.

iPad?Spoiler:
Just thought I'd share it.
If the iPad did that, I would learn to love Apple.
Of course it won't happen, since the current iPad has no camera, and Apple will probably wait a few years before adding one.
Also, iPads are arriving today, so perhaps we'll see some unbiased (read: non pro/against Apple fanboy) feelings regarding whether it's actually good or utter shit.

Actually, yeah, I can see why people would like it. It's:[list]Portable
Bigger screen
Bigger battery
Can do stuff
[/list:u]
But then again, it can't do much, doesn't last long enough, isn't big enough to be effective, is a touchscreen (which is bad for something like this, it slides on surfaces too easily), and looks weird to carry around.
No way this motherfucker can fit in your pocket like an iTouch could.
Anyway, I think it's a piece of shit, because it's more of the same, but gimped. It's casual as a motherfucker, expensive, and bleh. But that won't stop it from selling like crack in the projects.

This question is easy to answer if you have observed Apple fanboys. They over hype the shit out of every Apple product.

lol @ the Apple raging!
My real problem with this is that its just an oversized, cumbersome, iTouch... It doesnt matter what it can do, Im gonna buy a small laptop before i buy this big 'ol thing...

Nonono, you got it wrong.
I meant that it's easy to bring with you, like a laptop. Just get a case of something, and your set.

It's a missed opportunity really. Earlier this week my friend and I were discussing if there was something like a PDA watch. If Apple introduced something like a combination between an Iphone and a casual watch, I'd definitely buy it.

Iwatch ....fuck yeah. I'm eager to see neat stuff like this on the market.

There are touch screen watch phones already, but yeah. It's all 'experimental' and niche at the moment; the impetus that an Apple product would give to the development, and their support/standard features like apps, would really drive it forwards. It's the same situation with the iPad.
